Given that Nole used to cry off injured in the middle of a big match because he had a runny nose, he'd be foolhardy to go the opposite way and play matches and tourneys with a wrist strain. It's not a region of the body a tennis player can do without.

I also wonder how this injury happened, and if his change of coach has led to some new regime in training, which caused it...

LOL, poor Becker's getting an awful slagging. He gets blamed for losses for just sitting there watching and now it's his fault for Novak's sore wrist! Maybe Novak's not getting enough action from Jelena and needed to blow off some steam before the real season kicks off. His new "meditation" :snigger

Which part? You think I'm being unfair on Big Bo'?

Or the bit about where Nole used to retire from matches because his hair was damp? :p

I am very concerned for Nole both short term and long term. He has been blessed thus far without having serious injuries, but this could be a a real disaster, which we have yet to see how serious it is.
I am not panicking yet, but I keep thinking about what impact a wrist issue had on JMDP and it could be a disaster to be honest it would unfold in a similar way.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the next few weeks. I hope he won't make any stupid decisions.

I definitely think he should skip both Rome and Madrid and he should hopefully be ok for RG. Imagine the damage a tough match against Nadal before RG could do. Hopefully he heals up quickly and it's just a passing bout of pain that will go away as quickly as it came about.

The Boris part...

Well, we don't know what caused it, so it's all speculation at this point, including Front's idea of midnight visits to the Buddhist salon where he's indulging in strange auto-erotic meditations! :p

I'd love to hear more medical details on this, including whether it's just a strain, and how long he'll be out, but I'm sure these are things Nole would be better to keep to himself...

I don't know how much this helps, but Novak did say that he may have been training too aggressively on the change to clay, with the balls being heavier, etc.

retirement from a match because of damp hair is legit in novaks case because his hair is so long n wild and unmanageable, playing on would be the very height of recklessness.

That's what I heard, too, and as far as I know that's all he has said on the matter. Anything else is pure speculation, a lot of which is grounded on fears and hysteria. Let's just wait and see.

It will be a diminished few tournaments coming up, however, without Novak. Whenever any of the Big Four are missing (and, yes, I still think in terms of Nadal, Federer, Djokovic, and Murray as constituting the Big Four), I feel like there's a hole in the tournament.

Wrist pain is weird though. I hurt my left wrist doing too many forearm curls in the gym like a clown about 3 years ago. Sitting on the end of a bench with the barbell over my knees I was doing forearm curls with 50kg (20kg barbell with 15kg either side) and clown face here decided to do 25 reps, followed by a set of 20 and then a final set of 16 reps. Forearms were ridiculously pumped like Popeye on the Friday I was doing this gym session but the following Monday I really regretted doing more than 10 reps on each set as my wrist was very sore and not even straight and eventually did about 8 physio sessions.

Back to the weird part. I could barely lift 2kg dumbbells for bicep curls on my left wrist after I hurt it as it was so sore with that particular bend of the wrist but yet I was able to do 3 sets of 10 reps of incline dumbbell chest press with 40kg dumbbells in each hand so it very much depends on the movement involved.

In the same way, some shots probably don't hurt Novak at all right now but others are very painful. My left wrist clicks still 3 years later after that stupid day when I was doing too many reps and if I could do a Marty McFly and go back 3 years I'd have cut out have those extra reps. Stupid :nono Anyway, a few strengthening exercises with special rubber bands from a good physio is probably what Novak needs and some time off. He'll be fine.

Either is tendons are inflamed or there may be a slight tear.. All he can do is rest, ice and take anti-inflammatories.. I would hope that he consider taking off the rest of the clay season to get ready for the GSs
Along with with that he will be doing extensive strengthening for the wrist and forearm. Rest and meds only will lead to a reoccurrence.

Rest and meds only will lead to a reoccurrence. I beg to differ.. How is going to strengthen tendons if they are still inflamed ? I am asking because I really dont know..

Some meds are called "anti inflammatory" for a reason, aren't they?

YES I Saw that..novak said the 2nd scan on Monday revealed it was less of a big deal than initial worries suggested,:) although like a lot of folk I don't think heee should've played SF EVEN IF DOC said it was ok, still we cannot have a valued opinion seeing as a) we are not djokovic, b) we are not his doctor.

or maybe doc said "no way djokovic, you no play daddio" b4 sf and hothead djokovic said "la la la la laaaaa I'm not listening" and ignored advice and risked playing. :s

I don't think there's any doubts about his wrist. I mean, if you doubt it, it means you think he's faking. But why would he fake it? Also, he came into MC on a high...
