Frances Roig who had been with Nadal for 18 years recently left to pursue his own project. However, Nadal has now welcomed Gustavo Marcaccio to his technical team. Marcaccio is a highly experienced coach who has worked with a number of top players including Guido Pella, Juan Monaco and Maximo Gonzalez.

Thanks Margaret.. here's the link regarding the announcement.. I would have preferred Feli Lopez because I feel Rafa's serve is the last piece of his puzzle at this late stage of his career. I'm thinking since he added a new coach , Rafa is playing a few More years. Any thoughts

Well Rafa recently said to reporters presently he has no retirement plans, I think adding a new coach is a good idea, a new opinion, voice. Lopez is still playing some tournaments btw, Marcaccio has been at Rafa's academy since 2021. Marcaccio has been brought on board more as a 'technical coach' Rafa apparently is happy welcoming to his team.

Right, I’m wondering if that’s the specific reason.
I guess we will have to wait and see if there are other technical changes.
BTW I did see a video of him practicing the other day using a one handed bhand, I dont think he will be doing that in a match

Question? When Rafa defeats Novak at AO and retaining the championship, Is that the missing piece of the Djokovic puzzle?

From Marca.com,

The whole family will travel to Australia. If things go well at the AO, Rafa dosent want to be separated from his son for so long.

The chronic pain left Nadal miserable but the treatment has come just in time for the new father.

Now I am much happier, beyond winning or losing on the court, because I was suffering from a limp,” Nadal explained in an interview with MARCA.

From this article my biggest takeaway? No immediate plans to retire. :)

Speaking of retirement, I'm watching a classic IW 2022 match Korda vs Nadal . Our boy, Jimmy courier tried for over an hour to pour dirt on the Nadal's grave 3rd set 2-5 Korda but our champion prevail despite JC's voodoo's commentary.. jajaja

This is what annoying when the primary Rafa's naysayers (they know who they are ) didn't say a damn thing during the winter and early Spring when Nadal was pretty much unbeatable. Yet, when the abdomen tear reared its evil head last Summer, they tried to drop him out of the top tier of the ATP contenders. Just hope Nadal can duplicate or mimic the beginning of the year start Vamos Nadal

Rafa injured his abs twice during the Summer BTW, he should be arriving in Sydney today.United Cup starts on Thursday 29th, Rafa will play against Nick K, in one of the matches, as Aussie is in the same group as Spain and GBR, so Rafa will get good return of serve practice :)
Oh well the match between Nick K and Rafa in the United Cup will no longer happen as Kyrgios has just withdrawn from the United Cup for Australia citing a ( niggling ankle injury) Alex de Minaur will now face Rafa , as he moves into the No 1 men's position for Team Australia.

I was there and let me tell you the crowd, despite being predominately American, was trying to to lift Rafa for a comeback. It was electric.

From Marca, 22nd December,
Rafa said,
"I thought I had to quit tennis because I had lost my vitality and was a sad person most days!
Rafa said the new treatment is the only way he can continue playing.Nadal has revealed that he has continued to take injection for his foot injury several times after Wimbledon and needs to resort to the same whenever the nerves in his foot start acting up again. Nadal said he has to thank Mario, his regular anaesthetist in Barcelona, Dr Angel Cotorro, who were the one who put me in contact with David Abejon, specialist in the Pain Unit, to start a treatment that has drastically changed my career, which in the end is secondary, but my personal life. I played with a lot of anti-inflammotories, but I was lame all day. I thought I had to quit tennis because I had lost my vitality and was a sad person most days".

Happy to announce Rafa has arrived in my city of Sydney and has had a media conference with his fellow team mates, at Homebush. Sydney, where the Spanish team will play in the United Cup, and he looks happy and relaxed considering the amount of time it takes to arrive in Sydney from Spain. Journalist's asking if he will play mixed doubles with Paula Badosa who was also present, apparently we are the 'dream team' according to Rafa smiling. lol!.....Rafa has had his first practice on Ken Rosewall Stadium
Rafa was asked .....Could this be your last time playing in Australia?

Rafa.."..Hopefully not. When you are 36 years old, you never know when it's going to be the last one. I am just happy doing what I am doing and I'm looking forward to keep doing it" # United Cup.
