First match Latin American exho match between Rafa v Ruud in Argentina
Rafa won 76(8) 62....fun match, though as usual Rafa takes things seriously lol!
In the mixed doubles match between Rafa/ Gabi Sabatini vs Ruud/ Dulko the more experienced team of Rafa and Gabi Sabatini won they only played 1set 64

Rafa doing this exo tour is the type of thing that has left me follicly challenged….
Even Michael Jordan played golf and drove fast motorcycles plus pickup basketball games it's just what GOATs do I guess

Yeah but, a) he’s only playing basketball - Nobody outside America counts basketball players among the worlds greatest athletes, and b) Rafa has a history of scheduling faux pas, remember that Indian junket he took part in, back in late 2013? Then he did his back in before the final in Oz?

But to be fair, this South American jaunt is going to be a short, so he should get time to rest before he heads Down Under to defend his title… :crossed-fingers:

I had to laugh out loud, Rafa and Casper have played each other in golf while on their exho tour of South America
Casper said ' Rafa is more competitive on a golf course than on a tennis court' :)

Over 30,00 people were at the last night exhibition in Mexico City inside la Plaza Mexico. It has been a successful South American tour. In Colombia Rafa dropped a hint of maybe having a Fedal return since their past exho was cancelled due to political upheavals.
Rafa can now have some R&R before he starts training for the 2023 season, his warm up tournament before the AO will be representing Spain at the United Cup in Sydney.

Rafa has been voted as Fan's Favorite for the first time in the ATP Awards. ( Rafa now has the full set of awards, he was only missing this one).( Newcomer, Most Improved, Comeback and Sportsmanship. Nadal was also named Arthur Ashe Humanitarian of the Year in 2011, crowned ATP No 1, five times, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2017, 2019 ).

Frankie Roig and Rafa split

I know he was doing some coaching with Sloane Stephens at the AO this year,he does have his own coaching academy with 2 other coaches in Barcelona, Spain.
Sad news he has always been a strong part of Rafa's coaching team.I wish him well in his future coaching.
There are now rumors he may go full time coaching with Sloane Stephens btw

Rafa assuures he is not thinking about retirement yet ( via Esports IB3)

"I'm still a pro-athlete and I wish it lasts. I put effort so that it lasts as much as possible. Retirement starts the day you start as there's one day less to reach it. But I'm not at that point, I work every day with the right energy to not to be at that point yet.It will come though".

Frances Roig who had been with Nadal for 18 years recently left to pursue his own project. However, Nadal has now welcomed Gustavo Marcaccio to his technical team. Marcaccio is a highly experienced coach who has worked with a number of top players including Guido Pella, Juan Monaco and Maximo Gonzalez.
