No, Rafa always plays the tournament every year.Rafa already decided to play apparently after RG, also this has nothing to do with him playing Wimbledon or not.
It’s not a ranking event though, is it? Or is it?

Rafa is practicing now at the Mallorca Championships, on grass with Feli
It is open to the fans and the media.Rafa will hold his media conference at 1.45pm local time
Talking to the media Rafa will mainly discuss 2 items,
1. Update on foot / participation in Wimbledon
2. Mery's pregnancy, so that his private life, as always has been, out of the loop.

Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic both have signed up to play the Giorgi Armani Classic at the Hurlingham Club next week.
Casper Ruud, Carlos Alcaraz, FAA, plus Andy Murray possibly involved as well

Pleasing aspect Rafa only had 2 radio frequency treatments, he said it took a couple of days for his foot to settle after the treatments.

Quick fun fact: If Rafael Nadal wins either Wimbledon OR US Open this year, he will have the same number of slams (9) in a six-year span as he did from 2005-2010.

Basically,

2005-2010 (19 to 24): 9 titles, 11 finals in Slams
2017-2022 (31 to 36): 9 titles, 11 finals in Slams

Talk about consistency and symmetry...
