Do we know how long these 2-3 sessions will take and when he can actually test the foot?
I did a post further up just scroll up and Roig said he will need 3 treatments and then if there is no pain he will test the foot out in exho matches. No pain he will play Wimbledon, if there is pain, they do not know what will be next

Great photo, after the match on Sunday. Rafa looks like he might cry.

I understand that but are the 3 treatments done in a matter of how many days? When would be the final treatment?

I am not certain in how many days the treatments are to be spaced apart, though as Roig did say if the treatments are successful and Rafa feels no pain, they will play exho next, I would say going on what he said, there will be enough time then to play Wimbledon
I will keep updating when I do find out when the next treatment will be.

Reading all these of news about Nadal trying different treatments make me think he will more than likely play the US Open this year.

Rafa is only trying one type of treatment at present,Roig has said if this treatment does not work, they do not know what will be next? surgery? that could be Rafa's retirement.

If they gonna do surgery, in my opinion, I do think it will be after the US Open, thus he is officially retires from tennis.

It this radio frequency does not work after 3 treatments he will not be playing Wimbledon,
Rafa said he cannot continue with the pain and does not want to play with the injections like he had to do at RG
Honestly I cannot see him playing USO either, unless they find another treatment not surgery

Rafa back home after his 1st pulsed radio frequency treatment on his left foot.
Rafa will stay at home for 3-4 days, doing normal physical activity, and then depending on evolution, will receive a 2nd treatment next week.

We probably know by the end of next week if he is able to play Wimbledon or not

Well if all goes well, he could start practicing, if he feels not pain, that is the objective. At present he is at his academy handing out prizes for the graduation, watching via twitter, he is standing up on the podium, I cannot see crutches, he is in a suit with sneakers on his feet.Happy to report Rafa has no crutches and after his speech walked over to his seat.

These comments are from Rafa's doctor, Dr Angel Ruiz, regarding the radio frequency treatment, with it the sensory nerves which are responsible of the pain are partially inactivated,

The anesthetic blocking should only be used occasionally. The radio frequency treatment gets the same effect but lasts longer. Thus, if it works, it'll allow Rafa to train and play without having to resort to the anesthetic blocking.
In 3-4 days will have a first idea about the evolution, but a more reliable info on whether the treatment has been really successful or not will be available in 2 weeks.

With all his money and the importance of treating his foot, I really wish he would seek advice and/or treatment from someone other than his doctor. Why not go to some of the top medical centers in the world? Johns Hopkins or the Mayo Clinic in the US, or one of the European hospitals in Paris or Berlin? I know Dr. Ruiz is famous within sports medicine, but why not get a second, third, or even fourth opinion?

Here are 2 reasons. Clearly his sports doctor is doing a good job in helping him. I wouldn't change doctors either.

He very well may if the procedure doesn’t stick, but between his successful French Open run and Wimbledon it would seem too short a period of time.

He didn't say change doctors, he suggested a 2nd opinion...I don't think that could be a bad idea.

If that other doctor is a Djokovic fan than Nadal's career would be over. I say stick to the same doctor. Nadal keeps his family and friends close, he will be loyal to his doctor and trust has been built.

You are missing Tented point .All he is saying is there are other foot specialists at world renowned leading medical institutions that may have other solutions that could help alleviate his pain while playing. Nothing is wrong with a 2nd opinion.
