Well that’s encouraging news: Nadal is already doing leg exercises in the gym.

While it is encouraging news, Nadal doing leg exercises/workouts are not good indicators that he is pain free or ready to comeback. I am curious when he can start doing some upper extremities workouts.

Rafanoy I don't want to hear your voice of caution!! ;-):

I want positive rumors and encouraging hearsay....like this...

ETA:

To paraphrase the movie Spartacus..." I am David Ferrer..."

As there were rumors a few days ago that Rafa might be ready to play Barcelona,as David Ferrer also said he heard encouraging news
Now Mark Petchy has also got on the 'rumor bandwagon'.
I saw photo's of Rafa in the gym a few days ago on a cardio bike and I concur with Rafanoy these are not good indicators that Rafa is pain free, let alone play in Barcelona.
Rafa's doctor was pretty clear in his valuation of Rafa's rib fracture 4 to 6 weeks.

Ruud is apparently also an ardent golf fan and plays. He has played Rafa. This will make you laugh, (though not be surprised):

The NYTimes did an article on the Next Big Thing, Alcaraz, as you might imagine. I know this is behind a paywall, but this part made me laugh:

"No one would dare predict that there are not many more trophies in Alcaraz’s future. In Indian Wells, Nadal could barely pay attention during a news conference as Alcaraz’s match played on a television behind him and he anticipated an approaching showdown. Someone pointed out that Alcaraz was down an early service break to the reigning champion, Cameron Norrie of Britain. Nadal smiled. “Many games remain,” he said. Alcaraz won in straight sets."

I posted this after Carlos won the final. Coming from behind is a specialty of Nadal's, and Carlos knows how to remain "with calm," too.

Great stat! I was pretty astonished when he did it recently in Acapulco (on HC and at 35,) but the one that I thought was really amazing was 2020 French Open, given what seemed like the many obstacles, (barely having played since the Covid shutdown; cooler, wetter weather in Paris in autumn; new, heavier balls; being 34; playing Novak in the final.)

I am hoping he does it again at the 2022 French Open.

Fantastically optimistic! And I hope you get your wish. But, holy Toledo...I could live with just winning it, and not shaving too many years off of the lives of us dear fans.

So what are the odds of Nadal being able to play Madrid? Any updates? :thinking-face:
