Raonic is the most consistent player of the year. Reaching QF in every main events. :clap:clap

That is why he is ranked #2 in the singles race this year, behind Novak.
Tomorrow, an eventual win over Murray could help him to hold onto that position.

Not to forget Thiem who risen through the ranks so fast, has won a couple smaller events, and beat Rafa on clay in BA! He should have won today, but something inside his head wouldn't let him taken advantage of his advantage! Break points surrounded Nadal all day, but Thiem let all but 1 get away; it was sad to see this morning! :cover  :cry

He had the same hideous break point conversion rate against Novak and is actually worse at converting break points than Roger. Not a stat to be proud of :nono

With Novak out and other BIG3+2 stay, MC is really interesting to watch.

So does that mean that Raonic is trying to replace Berdych as the new "Mr. Quarterfinals?" :lolz:

Milos will not advance further than the QF. The dirt will neutralize his big serve and forehand. The better clay court players should prevail.

Is anyone watching Murray vs Raonic? Andy is dissecting him out there. Milos having flashbacks of the Indian Wells final.

Taking nothing away from Murray, who dominated the match, it did look like Raonic wasn't 100% and playing with an injury

Nadal bossing Stan in the second match of the day as well

Wow, good for Rafa - wasn't expecting him to beat Stan. Maybe he really can do one last push to clay dominance?

As for Andy, he must be the most up-and-down top player in the game right now, aside from Stan, of course. Andy's highs aren't as highs and his lows aren't as low, but he oscillates greatly.

Grandpa Fed looked his age in the waning games of the decider. Probably won't win this title before he retires.

Good tournament for Roger. I was hoping he would play 2 matches, he played 3. Back to training.

He seemed to play well enough, but time is definitely not on his side! When it gets to the crunch near the end, he looks more his age! :nono  :dodgy:

I think we've got two, maybe three more years of Roger. I said recently that I think this is his last year in the top 5. He'll play through 2017, in my opinion, and maybe 2018 if he is still top 10. But I would be surprised to see him play beyond 2018.

Same with Rafa.

What is going on with Monfils? He looked completely exhausted during the second set. I can't see him beating JWT if he doesn't get his energy level up.

Rafa's handled Stan quite handy a few times since last years US Open. I'd always have him favourite to beat Stan, especially on clay. And I like Rafa's chances to go through Murray fairly quickly too. The draw looked favourable for him when Novak departed. I'm not counting my chickens just yet, but I have my ducks lined up in a row, if ya get me drift...

Some players just don't know when to bow out! The money's too good I guess! The majors alone cough up $2 M+ for the winners! :nono  :dodgy: :cover

He enjoys playing, and he's still doing well, so why not leave him to it? We're going to miss all these great players when they go. Imagine the tennis world without them...
