Maybe the biggest win of his career - beating #4 at age 19. I know, Taylor Fritz - but Taylor is a very good player and very steady, and a top 10 player for a few years now. Mensik is no mere serve-bot. If you imagine 2-3 years of refinement, he's going to be very good.
Agree he has a great serve, he just needs more refinement in his game, another rising youngster

Novak and Mensik met at Shanghai last year. Novak beat him, but it took three sets. Mensik won the first set in a tiebreak. Seems to have a knack for it.
Novak is Mensik's idol I hope he leaves that in the locker room before they play each other:)

I look forward to Fonseca-Mensik bash-fests. Joao won in their lone match-up, but it was Next Gen finals format. But it was five "sets," all tiebreaks.

Mensiks career record in TBs at tour level is 28-13. Now 4-1 in deciding TBs
Good early signs for a guy who projects to play a fair share of breakless sets in his career
BTW Mensik will be #30 if he loses the final on Sunday and #25 if he wins

It's a Czech thing, he had it last year too. I see even children with a mullet when they come down in Croatia during the summer. Disgusting. Joker needs to put him down in a final or people are gonna say: you lost to a guy with a mullet.

Novak been eyeing that 100th title for a while now and he couldn't have an easier path to it. If he loses it's on him, but I don't think he is letting this chance go. Weird thing that he will be no. 2 in a race if he wins it. It tells more about the state of other players in top 10 than him.

I think Novak's back again! He's serving well, his court movement is just as good, & his confidence has elevated! He's heaving air after long rallies, but he is almost 38 yrs. old! I can't imagine him being upset by this kid who has nothing to lose I guess! It's a huge moment for him! My blog s/b getting updated after Sunday's final! Novak 41st Masters, 73rd Big title, & 100th Title!:face-with-hand-over-mouth::astonished-face::clap:

Thanks Don for the info regarding mullets, in Sydney there were a 'thing' about 5 years ago, I agree they look disgusting,
Yes Novak has had a easy path to the final in Miami, quite frankly it has been a poor showing from other top players, I have never like Miami, I cant wait for the real season to begin Clay:) which separates the men from the boys!

Kind of a crazy year so far. The best player banned, the second best player flailing, the three best Next Genners in various states of angst/struggle, some young studs on the rise. As I've been saying, it is a sorting out year: which young studs will stand out? Which Next Genners will fall back first? Etc.

I still think it will take Sinner a few months to get form back, you cant expect any player that has been out of competition for 3 months, to get back playing at his kind of level, that he had before.
Alcaraz has been a disappointment, hopefully the clay season will bring out the best in him, as he has a lot of points to defend
Zverev still in a 'mental funk' from the AO, other players in the Top Ten have also been disappointing.
Actually I have liked watching the younger players more eg Fonseca than the some of the Top Ten players,so far this year.

Don't forget Roger in 2017 - he hadn't played in six months before winning the Australian Open without even a warm-up. Now Roger is Roger, but if he could do that at 35, I don't see why Sinner can't come back at 23 after missing half the time. And of course he'll have two tournaments to work himself into "Slam form" for Roland Garros. He'll be fine.

Hopefully Sinner will be fine for RG he does have SF points to defend.I like your confidence by the way!

Don Fabio,
Pavic and his partner Arevalo have won the Sunshine Double defeating Cash/Glasspool 76(3) 63, the first doubles players to achieve this since 2016!
I love watching Pavic one of the best doubles players on the tour, he has won just about everything going, including a Career Golden Slam

I think having 2 Masters tournaments in March is overkill, but I know they aren't going to get rid of one of them (heck, they're adding a Saudi Masters in 2028), so I hope either the Indian Wells or Miami Masters moves to Charlotte.

Dont count your chickens before they hatch! there hasnt been a confirmation that there will be a Saudi Masters in 2028, the tennis schedule will have to be rearrange if that happens.
IW is not going anyway the fan numbers again were up this year, both the players and the fans love it I have friends from the USA who go every year, there us so much to do apart going to the tennis, great golf courses for one thing.Miami Masters is presently staying where it is, I havent read any other news otherwise

The Ladies Doubles Final has been in a rain delay for over 3 hours
When the rain stops they should move the Ladies Doubles Final to another court and let the Mens final get underway on Stadium court which would be the most sensible thing to do
No play before 5pm
Another weather update no play before 5.30pm

Predictably, Novak got the break back, after a slow start, but the kid doesn't show too many nerves for the occasion.

Kid wins the first set in the tie-breaker. Edgy Novak. Maybe he's feeling nerves to get #100? He's not liking the humidity, or having to deal with Mensik's serve at night, that's clear.

Turned over to see end of the TB! IDK what went on earlier besides Novak dropping serve! He obviously got the break back, but not sure of his confidence! This kid doesn't look "SHOOK!" Might be another one of those situations where a kid upset The GOAT as RUNE & Khachanov have done to win a Masters over Novak! :astonished-face::angry-face::anxious-face-with-sweat::face-vomiting:

Novak's eyes bothering him, too. Sometimes it's the contacts. Mensik serving well, and has upped the 2nd serve pace, too. (He's got work to do on the 2nd, but it's doing OK tonight.) Yes, sometimes the kids have nothing to lose, and 19 is a pretty fearless age.
