AP, you're not helping the fact that Carol takes offense about any non-glowing comments aobut Nadal, and inevitably blames it on Federer fans. I know we all like to take sides and protect our own, but it also enables her. Federer fans don't protect or defend Front in the same way, in my view.

Carol, I already said my piece: you didn't really understand what I said, instead interpreting it as this assault on Rafa. I find it impossible to have a reasonable conversation with you about Rafa, because you do this, again and again.

But I'll give it another shot. My point about Nadal is that of the elite, he's only played Roger and lost twice. We don't know how he'll match up against Andy and Novak because he hasn't played them this year. Again, we're not talking about 2013 - we're talking about now.

As for the Ferrer comment, you missed the subtlety and instead went for outrage. I am not saying he is an equal player to Ferrer, or even that he WILL be the new Ferrer, but that he COULD end up in that ROLE - that is, losing most of the time to the elite but beating everyone else. Again, I am not predicting this, but speculating. Until we see how he matches up against Andy and Novak--and if he can do better against Rafa--it remains an open question.

I got correctly what you have said but all you are saying are not facts, just speculating. And we are not in 2013, 14, 15, 16, we are in 2017 and still a long way until December, many things can happen but right now Novak and Muzz are out and we are watching Miami and seeing how the payers are doing and not what they did before

Caught the last few games from 5-5 and thought Berdych would win it from 6-4 up in the TB tbh but also figured he'd lose it on a double fault. Saw that a mile off. Tough loss for him but the commentators said Federer played a horrendous game at 5-3 in the 3rd set so Berdych was lucky to drag it out so long from what I read and heard. Wasn't a high quality TB by any means but nervy stuff for fans of both guys. Can imagine the nerves for someone who had money on either guy at that point of the match.

What a shame - I actually feel bad for Berd. He played amazing, with tons of heart. Roger was bailed out by his serve and Berdy's double fault.

I've only seen the score and not the match yet...but isn't that what makes Roger great? His serve has bailed him out time and time again in the course of his career - especially against lesser players. Berdych - Mr. Quarterfinals - wants to get back to the top 8 so he can avoid these early round matchups with top guys. Good luck with that because the younger guys are coming hard to get into the top 8 themselves.

A cyclone? Good heavens. Well, I haven't seen Berdy play that well for months, even though he lost.

Holy cow. What a lousy match (some good points here and there, but in general... ufffff).

The game Federer served for the match was the worst service game I´ve seen from an ATP player in ages. He is looking more and more uninterested in the whole thing. Let´s see now that he will face a guy that beat him the last time around. And it is a semi, with the finish line that close things may change.

I felt sorry for Berdych. He played some fantastic points. The inside out backhand was pretty good.

Ok, in fairness, I was able to turn the TV from the middle of the second set onward. Maybe before it was better.

I´ll admit that I was even rooting for him after he broke back in the third. Guess it´s my fault...

El Dude, she is correct and another poster told your comparison of Rafa to Ferrer was ridiculous.. we spoke about this before but as a moderator you are unfair at times.,you called me immature which was uncalled for but I know your character is not to admit when you are wrong. All Carol does is support her player/ champion Nadal. Front and some of the other Fed fans get their panties stuck so far up their backsides that anything that seems disparaging towards Roger is sacrilegious. Now tell me so it's clear, this is Tennis Frontier or Tennis Federer only !

Berdych left it all out there , he stepped up and fought the pressure..the better player under pressure won. Federer kept and held his composure..that's why he's the GOAT

The only poster here that Federer fans really take offense to is Carol, AP and El Dude said it all correctly. It's impossible to talk about Nadal without her having a muppet attack about literally everything. Also, Federer fans do not go ballistic anywhere near as much as Nadal fans. It's been pointed out correctly by Darth in the past that Nadal fans seem to have a victim mentality and are just like Nadal himself, overly defensive.

Believe it or not I have actually clicked "like" to a few of her posts in the past when she wasn't going mental over Federer but these posts are few and far between. She may well be a lovely person when it comes to everything besides Nadal and I've nothing against her other than the taunting and frankly downright unnecessary remarks slating Federer in almost every post. I mean we were told Bautista Agut had a sore tummy (aw, poor Roberto) and may have won if not for his "stomach issue". Wtf? He played about as well as he could and I doubt for 1 millisecond there was a single thing wrong with him but yet the excuse was there before the first point was played and after he lost. It's just downright annoying. And for record, I've given lots of praise to Nadal for his DTL banana forehands and forehands in general and volleying so it's not like she makes out that myself and other Federer fans are always slagging Nadal. Far from it. And nowhere near the extent she does about Federer...

Missed it all. Been without power after a cyclone... Sounds like Roger was in the eye of the storm too... at least he came through in the end. Saved 2 Match points I believe...

One thing with Roger though, I don't think you can tell how he's going to play from one day to the next these days, so I'd not necessarily put too much stock into today's performance on how he'll do tomorrow.

I agree about his play day to day. The problem is going to be the recovery time, playing a brutal match like that and then coming back the next day is going to be tough for him. I'm glad there's a long break for him after this tournament because this type of situation is exactly what he needs to avoid. It looked like Fed was going to make quick work, he played great up until the middle of the 2nd set. Berd stuck with him and played pretty well until the middle of the 3rd when it became a stinkfest from both of them.

What are you talking about? are you kidding me? you, who can't read anything about Roger that is not the way you are thinking and then you are jumping like a spring and always criticizing Rafa? don't make me laugh mister, it's enough :laydownlaughing
By the way, how many Rafa's fans are around here, two or three? you know that the "union make force" but I don't give a damn, I've just give my opinion same like you do

Maybe Roger would beat Zverev, it'd be the youngster's first MS semi and if Fed started well he could get to the finish line quickly. And though Zverev has a big serve it isn't as deadly as Kyrgios's. If Kyrgios wins tonight I think he beats Fed tomorrow, it's tough picturing Roger not being a little flat tomorrow.

I can accept no problem if someone says something negative about Federer if it's true but that's the thing, most of the hor$e$h1t coming from you is nowhere near the truth and you make up excuses for every Nadal loss or that Federer is lucky when he wins. Don't pretend you don't.

That's the great thing about the game of tennis ..the cream usually rises to the top even when a player is down match points.. No need for Tomas to hang his head..if he plays like that he will enjoy more successes than failures..:clap

The problem is that most of the times I'm right and that is what bother you more. And come on, how you can talk about excuses and horse&^#t? when have you given some credit to Rafa? NEVER. If you don't like when I said that Rafa played awful in IW it's your problem, of course just Roger's fans don't want to see it, but who cares, the fact is fact, you can deny whatever you want, nothing is going to change . I've never said that Roger is playing bad, on the contrary he deserves a lot of credit but I also see how the other players are doing, I'm not blind like you sir

For Roger's standards that was a very long match and he did plenty of running with lots of mental/emotional energy spent. For it being a 3 set match that was a brutal one for Fed.
