What a shame - I actually feel bad for Berd. He played amazing, with tons of heart. Roger was bailed out by his serve and Berdy's double fault.

Clutch playing from Roger at the end after major anti-clutch moments.

Regardless of who he faces tomorrow I think he is going to lose. The geezer will have trouble recovering after that.

I Watched only from the point when Fed served for the third set and got broken. From that point, Fed played utter crappily and yet won. I would say he does not deserve to win based on that portion alone.

Poor Berdy - he played with such heart, but blew it in the end. And Roger's serve saved him.

I watched the last set. After 5-3, it was like watching a sunset...Roger faded, faded and faded some more and with the last ray of the light, pulled it off. Bird played honest.

I am not sure any more rays of light left in the tank for Roger for the semis though...The youngsters will be tough .

Yes I have to agree. He clearly doesn't like playing here. The only thing I would say is that if it comes to a tight situation, this escape will give him a lot of confidence

I only watched most of the third set, but it was a weird match. Berdych really seemed to be playing better, but Roger just found a way.

I agree. Roger looks off, and is likely to lose tomorrow.

The only positive thing is that after two matches in which crappily played, he is unlikely to do the same for the all important semifinal match.

Carol, you get into these squabbles again and again. I can't make a comment about Rafa without you getting upset and taking offense. And I see this played out with numerous other posters. Own it.

You can make a reasonable comments about Rafa, we (his fans) have criticized him many times but about you have said comparing him to Ferru and about he has to beat Roger and also he has not beaten Novak and Muzz IMO it has been out of context so I gave you my answer and I don't think I'm wrong, just tell me why and with facts, that's all

Kieran's great post was to DarthFed,

He wrote, Darth , "You are an idiot when it comes to Nadal"

There was nothing even remotely great or true about that post.

That's exactly it, Murat. I think Roger is tired and will get beaten by whichever youngster he plays. I'm OK with that. He got some good points and will get some well-deserved rest.

I've seen plenty of double faults to lose a match before but none like that! That one almost landed in my living room

Missed it all. Been without power after a cyclone... Sounds like Roger was in the eye of the storm too... at least he came through in the end. Saved 2 Match points I believe...

One thing with Roger though, I don't think you can tell how he's going to play from one day to the next these days, so I'd not necessarily put too much stock into today's performance on how he'll do tomorrow.
