Donald Young has been flying under the radar a little here - I've notice his results have been quietly improving for a while. It's a winnable match against Fognini. Could see him in the quarters.

Late career surge for the aging prodigy Donald Young? I hope so.

Didn't watch the match. But according to Delpo, the wrist wrapping was

"because I was sweating too much: it’s nothing to worry about”.

But then what will Carol complain about

If his wrist was okay , then it was Roger's brilliance on the court that made Delpo appearance on the court seem so unlike himself, IMO..only a very dialed in Krygrios may have some answers for Roger..He is The Mighty Fed..heck even I am a fan again :clap

I like Isner, as a person, though I don't like his tennis. And I hear that Dr. Evil is funny, and he appeals as a person, but their tennis...not so much. Hoping that Zverev moves on.

Isner seems to have the personality of a wet towel to me. And his tennis is even less appealing. Agreed about Dr Evil though. His personality shines through in his tweets

Berdych is another who can be pretty amusing on social media... at odds with his robotic game.

Since when Delpo has had good results on clay?

In fact, since always. His real breakthrough was a run to the semis in RG in 2009 (he repeated it a few years later). Surely it is not his best surface (but I never said it was).

Nadal/Mahut
Federer/Bautista Agut
Kyrgios/Goffin
Fognini/Young
Sock/Donaldson
Berdych/Mannarino
Wawrinka/A.Zverev

On Tuesday's schedule, Nadal should take care of Mahut. Same with Fed and Bautista. Harder match for Fed though IMO.

Goffin's the sort of player who could irritate Kyrgios, but I think Nick takes it.

Fognini/Young - no idea but Young seems to be developing a bit more consistency. Fog is a basket case.... depends which Fog shows up.

Sock/ Donaldson... I think Sock at this stage.

Berdych/Mannarino - Berdych.

Last one is the most interesting... Zverev has beaten Stan before... I'm going to take him to spring a minor shock and despatch the Number 1 seed.

Roger is a matchup nightmare for delPo. He needs just a little bit more time than most of his colleagues to set up is shots, time that Fed doesn't give him. It's similar to why Fed matches up so well against Wawrinka (esp. off clay).

They were showing stats during the match of Fed's average contact point on rally balls, and he was inside the baseline. That's just nuts.

I thought that Batista could give a hard time to Roger but his fans don't have to worry too much, Bautista has still stomach problems since IW and he says that he can't even to serve well because he feels some pain (maybe it's appendicitis too?) I don't know why he is still playing with those bad conditions

My point is that if he is not doing too good on HC then I can't see him doing good on clay

I think Federer, Nadal, and Nishikori are almost shoe-ins for their quarters. Of the first quarter, I think Stan will beat Zverev, but then Kyrgios will beat Stan. So I think we'll have:

Kyrgios vs. Roger
Rafa vs. Kei

I wouldn't be surprised to see a Nick vs. Kei final.

I'm hoping for a Zverev vs. Kyrgios quarter because that is a rivalry I want to see develop more. They're apparently friendly off court, but I can see them being on court rivals for a long time. Wawrinka-Kyrgios would of course be a good match as well, for on and off the court reasons. Not sure who to pick from this quarter- I think all three of those guys have a realistic shot.

I'm already feeling sorry for Berdych, predicting another humiliating defeat to Fed.

I want to and think we will see the Nadal-Sock match. It will be a good test to see where Sock really is, and whether he really has a shot at a sustained stay inside the top 10 or is going to max out at the cusp of the top 10 like Isner. I think the latter scenario is more likely.

Nishikori should come through on the other side without too much heartburn. I could actually see him making the final... he can rush Rafa the way Fed has done in their last two matches. Not quite as successfully, of course, but I think effectively enough to squeeze out a 3 set win.

Fed-Kei final is my prediction, with Fed completing the sunshine double. He's just too dialed in right now, regularly hitting from so far inside the court.

That´s a good point, for sure. But I think he is playing well (I know we disagree on that). He had the misfortune of running in to Djokovic and Federer. Consider still that he is yet on the come back, yet gaining confidence. I won´t be surprised to see a good run in at least one of the clay masters.
