Very entertaining match. Laser like forehands (from both, even if mostly from del Potro), great net skills (again from both), and apart from one or another point here and there, super high quality from both.

Probably one of the very few times where Federer sees a crowd that cheers more for the other guy (factoring in the fact that 1 Argentinian makes the noise of 10 people from another countries).

I was thinking the same too in regards to crowd noise. I think the majority were on Fed's side but as you said they weren't quite as vocal as those in DP's corner.

That's a potentially tricky match out of the way. Shame that Delpo might be struggling with his wrists again though. :(

Next match against Batista Agut - Fed has never lost a set to him, even last year at MC. So hopefully that trend will continue unless all the matches catch up with him. :)

Berdych will be much more difficult. But hopefully he can handle him as in Australia.

Then whoever comes through from the top quarter will surely be battle hardened and a difficult opponent in the semis - unless it's Kyrgios and he gets food poisoning again ...

Carol is absolutely right, Berdych is a joke as Far as Roger is concerned. Bring on Kyrgios/Wawrinka!
Hope you're right - he'll have to pay QF&SF back to back so a straightforward won against Berdych would certainly be welcome ...

The young guns are battling it out with the trees today. Zverev lost a first set TB and Kyrgios won the first set 6-4 and seems headed to a 2nd set TB vs. Ivo. Their serves are obviously tough to break anywhere but with the height of the bounce in Miami it makes it damn near impossible.

Really want Zverev to pull through this one. Level pegging in the second set at 3 apiece.

Karlovic takes the second set breaker. Want Kyrgios to prevail in the third. Karlovic and Isner are two of my least favourite players to watch.

I hear you man, I know Isner is American but it's rare that I ever root for him. Dr. Ivo is at least a little more likable since he's approaching 40 and he is hilarious if you've followed some of his tweets. But I'm definitely hoping for Zverev and Nicko as well. Stan is going to have his hands full no matter what assuming he wins tonight but hopefully Zverev gets a crack at him.

I see that Carol is, once again, looking for ways to diminish Roger.

Zverev just can't handle Isner's serve - he can't break him, or even come close. I've only watched a few games but it seems Sascha can't even win points off Isner.

Why? maybe because I said that the poor Delpo had to call the trainer because his wrist? is that for you to diminish Roger? sorry but Delo is not anymore the same player like in 2009, he went through two wrists surgeries and I don't see him to play so well, he said two days ego that he is not at !00% fitted and today we have seen it

These two matches are twin matches..twin situations, twin type of players and style of players..

Nice finish by Kyrgios. Of all the things about him, he does the least demonstrative win celebration of anyone.

I like Isner, as a person, though I don't like his tennis. And I hear that Dr. Evil is funny, and he appeals as a person, but their tennis...not so much. Hoping that Zverev moves on.

Carol, it is my observation that you tend to find little ways to diminish Roger's victories - it is always something wrong with the other player, especially if it is Nadal, but not only Nadal. But I'll let it go.

As for Del Potro, I watched some of the match and my observation is that he was playing very well - maybe not like he did in 2009, but certainly the top 10 form that we've seen over the last few years, when he's been healthy. If he was hampered by his wrists, it didn't show in his game - he was hammering some deadly forehands the likes of which are still possibly unsurpassed on the tour. I still see Delpo as a half step ahead of players like Tsonga, Berdych and now Thiem, although a bit behind the Wawrinka/Murray level.
