Baghdatis cruising to join the rest of the winners. Always liked Marco's game... nice to see him showing some form recently.

Lucky Loser Horacio Zeballos gets even luckier, beating Del Potro in straights. The bad news is, the left wrist is causing Juan trouble again, and he had to take a pill mid-match. How can this be happening again? Poor guy. I just about cried to see it.

Lopez (losing to qualifier Yoshihito Nishioka 6-4 6-4 ), Chardy (losing to Verdasco 6-4 6-4) and Garcia -Lopez (losing to Pouille 6-2 6-4 ) are the seeded casualties of the day.

Did you watch the full Delpo match @Moxie?

Pretty much, what they showed. He seemed hampered from early on. Some beautiful shots, and he stuck it out to the end, but a lot of slice bh's, too. Trainer looked at the wrist, gave him some tablets. He seemed to wince just to put the headband back on.

They say that everything happens for a reason, I think it was too early for Roger to play on HC because his knee, it's much better that he starts in Montecarlo like he said before

Everyone keeps saying, (by which I mostly mean commentators,) that Djokovic has no weaknesses. Another dumped drop shot. His hands are not always the softest. Young Edmund is making a decent show, anyway.

That was hard to see. Rafa was so sick he had to retire. First time in 8 years. Maybe the heat, or the bug that's going around, or both.

So what is this? Fedal kaput, Wawrinka too? And what about equality? Only JJ fell off on the other side.

I watched the first set of Nadal match adn they both played well and interesting game especially considering the strong wind. Then I was surprised later to see that Rafa had to retire (was that heat, injury or stomach flu?), but kudos to young Bosnian dude Joom-hur.
