I don't think I could face that disappointment all over again.
I know what you mean ..it's Rafa's best grasscourt campaign in five years...Rafa played Novak's game the "correct way" meaning hitting his FH DTL and taking control of the net as often as possible..Even if I got tortured by LaChief.. James Bonds best analytical villain, my sentiments wouldn't change. The closed roof was a huge advantage for Novak and cost Rafa that opportunity to play for the title vs Roger. 80 degrees , sunny but Novak wanted the roof closed.

He would have played for the title v. Anderson, no? That was one that got away.

I am actually watched the 4th set, and Rafa is playing great. I'll be turning it off now, though.

Yeah 2018 he definitely lost the title against Novak. But 2019 he avoided a beatdown in the final.

Rewatched the Monte Carlo Final 2013.
Very impressive first set of Novak. What a mighty BH cross he had. Nadal looked helpless at times. Don’t know if he was injured.
Anyway in the second set he was healthy and this was a tight one.

Carol ..I understand you point but I dont feel Rafa threw away his opportunity. He had numerous bps late in the fifth set but Novak’s serves and passing shots was amazing. However, that was the pure blueprint how to play Novak’s game on the grass. Yes, I am frustrated for Nadal but he knows he still have a few more years to match that intensity again.

He played a very good tournament Wimby 2018.
But to earn this big title, he should have beaten under-average Novak, who just starts to come near to where he was early 2016.

But he got his platinum present one year later in NY. And plus without much efforts.

And do you think after to win Montecarlo, Barcelona, Roma and RG Nadal could have played in Wimbledon at his best level? no way, but anyway he reached the semis and was very close to win even that he was the one under average, Novak was ok

As a big Sampras fan this was one of his more emotional matches, ie the match versus Courier occurred when his coach was dying from brain cancer, and Pete struggled with his emotions during the match, weeping at one point.

Of course, Nadal played his best. He was in tremendous shape and very aggressive. He was very close and would have beaten everyone else.
You are right, Novak was ok , which is far from his best. He played a strong 1 set, would he have played that level constantly, I believe he would have won in 3 or 4 sets.
But he couldn’t. He played mediocre overall, stayed in the match was always in front and played the big points at the end simply better.
I think most would agree who the better player on grass is.

My blood still boils with that insane decision to keep the roof closed,of course it was a huge advantage for Novak.

They could have finishEd the match the day before. It helped Nadal very much to cut Novak’s momentum after winning that TB in the 3rd.
The roof-excuse is repeatedly coming out of the Nadal corner.

How could he win so many games under closed roof, if it was that huge advantage for Novak? Miss Carol posted Nadal was far from his best+ Novak had this “big advantage“.
So the only answer to this Nadal Fan Logic is That Bull is Miles better than Novak. Yes that’s the only possible answer:good:.

For me it sounds like there is something wrong in the state of denmark.
