That's an unfortunate truth, but John McEnroe came from a family which was embarrassed by his behaviour and it made no difference. Maybe Nick will be exposed to broader examples than we've seen in his family? Can only hope. One thing he has in common with Mac, though, is that John's dad was a lawyer and Nick's bro says he has studied the law, so maybe there's no hope for Nick after all... :laydownlaughing

I am actually hoping that his mother took him aside and said to him " Listen Nicko, we are family, so we will defend you publicly every time, but if you pull something like this again, I will personally spank you with your own racket...and no baklava after supper!"

Hit them where it hurts. Instead of a fine, they have to sit out the next Slam. Sometimes i wonder who these top guys are and why they make these meaningless decisions. The present punishment is nothing more than a token gesture to appease the masses.

Oh please stop! This is getting ridiculous! What do you want; BLOOD? You guys and those "high school" girl commentators need to take a chill pill! They all sounded like squawking little girls on Facebook and Twitter! Grow up! He's been fined and reprimanded; got it! Move on! He's a freakin' kid! Will you all be happy if he slashes a wrist or 2? As for being banned from a major, the ATP has little to no control IMO! They are separate entities running things; ATP for Masters and the ITF for the Grand Slams! After a while it begins to look like bullying! I hate BULLIES! :nono

This 3 year ban BS is absolutely absurd. He hurt the integrity of the game? I mean I was as disgusted with his behavior as much as the next guy but this is absolutely insane.

atp should give nick some lego to play with, some weeble wobbles, some choc biscuits and some milk and maybe a groovy spiderman costume to wear. maybe he will 'chill out' a little bit.

Kygrios' behavior doesn't rise to the level of acrimony people are displaying here! It's so disproportionate to the offense! He's a punk, a brat, and not very classy; so? Just because others aren't heard doing or saying things doesn't mean it isn't going on elsewhere! These people need to relax and move on! It's done! :cover :puzzled :nono  :dodgy:

"The next guy" happened to be Stan: trust me, you weren't as disgusted as he was... :snicker

Was it mentioned that Kyrgios was fined for 2 separate comments?
One for what he said to Stan for 10K and another 2.5K for comments made to a ball person.

I also heard comments made by Azarenka bout the incident. She stated she thinks it all comes down to education. She sounded very reasonable in all she said considering she had been befriending Nick at one point.

More important than 2 fines, ATP has started an inquiry into his behavior and depending upon their findings Nick may be suspended for some length of time.

Can you post a link to Vika's comments.
I couldn't find Vika's comments about education, but did post a link to her twitter feed where she made a couple of tweets:

You've been very confusing tonight about who you're calling hypocrites. Would you care to name names, and then show examples of how they've been hypocritical?

I really couldn't care less. In fact, I find it all moderately amusing. :) A storm in a glass of water really. As for Kyrgios "hurting the integrity of the game" - well, he did that when he started tanking against Gasquet. His Vekic boinking comments are nothing more than immature trash talk you can find in any sport. But of course the social media is going wild with holier than thou comments from people for whom saying much worse things about tennis players they don't like or celebs of all kind 24/7 is a way of life. Yet they see themselves as the prototypes of how others should behave themselves. I don't approve of Kyrgios' comments, but he hasn't committed murder and suspending him over something like this would border on the ridiculous. If only people would get this upset over things that go wrong in the world that actually matter - what a much improved world we would be living in!

I do not know about others but I am more than capable of getting upset over multiple things at the same time, thank you. It is like those idiots saying "Why do you worry about a lion when people die everyday". Well, I can do both .

OMG, now they're bringing Kyrgios' brother into this! He may be the vilest person on Earth, ATP needs to have a reality check! Everyone's entitled a friend or relative to watch them play! They are going to let words dictate LIFE now? Talk about "PC" being on steroids! This is getting sicker and sicker by the day! No wonder this boy is grabbing his back! I guess they won't be happy until he quits or jumps off a freakin' building! ;-(

Nick Kyrgios' brother Christos forced to buy a ticket to watch him get smashed by Richard Gasquet... after his VIP pass was revoked over vile comment about Donna Vekic

Well done to polite and sweet Richie for beating arrogant bad mannered Nick in Cincy
