I can't help but feel that Nick has ruined himself with that outburst and may not play well again for a while. In the meantime, he could muzzle his homie bro and his hashtag-moaner ma...

He's waiting out the determination of the ATP as to whether he is going to be suspended, banned... that added to the universal opprobrium for his actions? :nono I don't see him making a comeback anytime soon.

Last time I checked he got beaten fair and square by Gasquet... he does not need ATP or Federer to be out of contention pretty quick.

If I hear Federer jumps on this bandwagon and starts piling on this kid; I'm done with him! HE needs to shut his mouth like he does on everything else! :cover :nono :puzzled :exclamation:

This kid really does everything he can to be unlikeable. I wonder if he has any fans, other than his family?

Anyhow, I imagine he'll "punk it out" for a few more years, then settle down and be a bit more humble and everyone will talk about how mature he is. Or maybe not.

Yeah classless comment but way too much pearl-clutching going on now...maybe we need to turn the microphones up louder on the NFL fields and the NBA courts, cause folks will be fainting over what they hear there.:snicker

One of the many reasons I am a tennis fan. Civility is still the rule. Other sports are losing/have lost it.

Which is why I'm not a fan. Connors or Mac would have tried twice as hard the next time they played after an incident like this.

One of my biggest issue with Kyrgios is, when you display this sort of behavior (not just this incident but everything in general), you've gotta back it up. If you want to be hated, you've gotta make people further enraged by actually winning...not getting destroyed by Gasquet in less than an hour.

I always said the tennis culture is too PC (though again, I didn't like this incident at all, because it involved an "innocent" third party), so I don't mind a little edge at all, but a trash talker who gets his butt handed to him is just an idiot.

Your skills have to match your mouth.

Indeed. And if you're hated, but you're winning you automatically build up a fanbase as well. But if you get your ass handed back to you time after time you become a bit of a joke. It's a bit like with great artists. A crazie is a crazie. But a crazie who's a great artist is an eccentric.

To be fair, Kyrgios is still a young guy and by and large he's doing very well for his age. Sometimes he folds like a napkin when things are going against him though. You can't afford to do that if you want to be a badass.

They act as if Kyrgios is the only player, male or female that's acted out in the tennis world of late! I've never seen so many rackets smashed as I have recently! Even Caroline Woz. went off because of her play last night against Azarenka! Serena may have busted 2 rackets! These people are stressed; BIG TIME! :dodgy: :eyepop

Kyrgios claims to have apologized to everybody. But, everybody says that Kyrgios never apologized to them. Whom should I believe? :puzzled :snicker

How pathetic that people need an apology from a disingenuous child! They need to move the "F" along and get a life! This is so ridiculous and I won't change my mind on it! I have no love lost for him, but he's not important enough to keep kvetchin' about! :cover :puzzled :nono  :dodgy:

If a person is over 20 and in charge of their own decisions, and old enough to be a professional in a sports and sign million dollar contracts with sponsors, he is not a child. He is a poorly raised, poorly taught, immature and egocentric moron who thinks everything evolves around him. It's all about him and he doesn't care who he hurts or steps on. The family has shown enough for the public to know that his help is not coming from there. If he can't control himself and be a good representative of a professional tennis player, the ATP will have to step in. If he is not willing to abide by those rules, he is free to quit and do something else. Not so difficult to understand.

That would be fine if the ATP wasn't so selective in exerting that authority! You have players smashing rackets with impunity; not even a warning from the umpire these days! There's Rafa who doesn't like being called out for time violations so Carlos is no longer allowed to work his matches! Andy has running dialogues, swearing and ranting to the top of his lungs! I could go on, but most are too concerned about some kid who muttered some comments under his breath! :cover  :puzzled :nono  :dodgy:

Those comments directly harmed the reputation of three people, two who weren't even involved in the match. If you can't see the difference, and keep excusing him for "being a kid" then we'll have to agree to disagree.
