Stepanek gets all the women on the tour. Therefore, he is a legend.

Hewitt won his first round encounter. Pretty tight match. R2 of IW now - this is where it gets interesting. I just wish my university would suspend work for one week.

My university is doing.

And Harrison justifies his WC. Beats Golubev in tight straights.

Wow, this means only SIX american men lost today.

The US "Armada" ain't turning it around in one tournament, but Harrison is one we have set our hopes on, and Golubev is no slouch. So we'll take these wins where they come, thank you.

Fedrinka! I like it! That's one name for two players that work, unlike Djokurray, or Nadokovic...

OK, I was hoping so (he's been out of the top 100 for a while now and I do not see him coming back anytime soon)

I am looking forward to see what a few guys will do today:
Mahut, Thiem and Khlahn.
They are riding at their careers best and want to see if they can continue doing that and improve further.

Khlan is indeed going to have a tough test today with Markino.

I saw Khlan train this week. He really was reeling from that Hewiit thrashing. It showed him there was a LOT more work to do, because Rusty essentially beat him by absorbing and redirecting.

Yes, and perhaps I should have said "had" set our hopes on. A bit scraping the bottom of the barrel, but that's where we are with US men's tennis. :nono

Klahn lost, but Bautista-Agut had a good win over Steve Johnson. He's playing the aggressive tennis that got him the win over Del Potro in the AO.

Today it is 100% results for US so far. All three men who tried their hand, failed.

Here is who's who list: Rajeev Ram, Steven Johnson, Bradley Klahn.

There is Ryan Harrison who won against a non-american opponent yesterday,
but there were also three american men who won against an american opponent yesterday.
And the only seeded player, John Isner is also out there.

So, we can look forward to five losses in the second round.
