IW is beginning tomorrow. No pundits have indulged in bracketology.

Are Peter Bodo, Steve Tignor, Kamakshi Tandon, Greg Garber etc have been laid off?

or are they hibernating in the extended winter?

Height of stupidity. JMDP has entered doubles also with Marin Cilic as partner.

The man with 1.5 hands wants to play not only singles, but also doubles.

Does any one know whether his Minnesota doctor is the beneficiary in his life insurance?

Don't know about the others, but Tignor seems to have hopped on a bandwagon, which is surprising...

I'm with you on the height of stupidity for sure! JMDP is not a child and he should know better.
Or maybe he is worse than a child because even children know if something hurts you should stop doing it

Bizarrely, del Potro claims that his doctor is encouraging him to play, even though he's in pain:

"It's hurting all the time, sometimes less and sometimes a little more. But it's hurting, and I have been in contact with my doctor all the time. He's trying to keep me motivated to keep playing, but I know what is my limit playing on court," he said after stopping mid-match in Dubai.

Jack Sock who starts the matches today on Stadium 1 against Smycxek lists James Blake as his coach.
About the americans, they are currently only 5 players in the top 100:
Isner, Querrey, Khlan, Young and Sock. This must be an all time low.
They gave all their WC to Americans, so at least they have a few more in the event. Also 2 made it out of the qualifications: Veteran Ginepri and Kuznetsov.

Sock begins the opening act in the exodus of US players.

Delbonis figured that he needs to take rest since he just won his first title and
lost the opening round.

This is very disappointing. Guys like this need to realize that winning a 250 isn't "enough" -- you have to keep going. If he's truly exhausted, then he needs to work on fitness. If he's mentally drained, then he needs to work on that. And it's not like he drew one of the top guys in the first round, either, since they all have byes; he played Falla.

I am not surprised because I am convinced DelBonis will shine only on clay for the time being. He made already his mark last summer when he defeated Roger on clay then we did not hear much about it in the fall once the HC season resumed.
He will be like a Monaco at best. But because he is young, if he will hire someone to help jhim on HC as well, he might become an all around player, but that will take some time.
Traditionally the Souith American guys like most of the Armada are great on clay. There are exceptions like Delpo, Nalby, Canas, or a few Spaniards of course. But DelBonis seems to me he will follow the rule.
