Dig. Dig. Dig. Your posts speak more than Rafa's diminished play that his future is not very bright. But you still think he has two more slams in him. I'm glad you have Murray in the wings. :snicker

Make it about my Nadal fandom, if you like, rather than your unkindness and how one should venerate one player's wife, then alternately, make fun of another player's wife. My championing of Mirka clearly has nothing to do with the number of Slams that Nadal may or may not yet achieve, or my opinion about that. The issue of weight and concepts of body/beauty are complicated for women, and so I was defending Mirka from a feminist position. Surely that was off-topic, but also it had nothing to do with how many Slams I think Rafa might yet get.

Keep lecturing Moxie. Make it about body issues. That's fine. If it was a real issue to you, you have my email or you could have PM'd me and I would have removed the pictures. If you want to use this venue to try to make me feel badly... that's your choice.

In 2011 you were quite shrill in your questioning Djokovic's loyalty to his country and calling him a tax cheat, which made us fans of a criminal - all because he chooses to reside in Monaco. But you never said that about the other half a dozen top players who do the same.

Thank you for the lecture. Did I cast aspersions on Roger's marriage, or his commitment to Mirka? No. Did I preface my post with the statement "like many of us"? Yes. I am sorry to read that my posts of Novak and Jelena have been bothersome to you. A few more years, a few more children and a few more pounds will probably be in Jelena's future as well.

In the meantime...

No you just want to vent your spleen. And that's fine. Just don't hide it.

In 2011 you were calling into question Djokovic's loyalty to his country, calling him a tax dodger and criminal because he chose to reside in Monaco... as do at least half a dozen other top players.

I didn't turn it into a body issue. That's exactly what it has always been, talking about Mirka's weight. At least for me, and I said as much from my first post about it. I could have addressed you privately, but the conversation was public, you made your choice, so I addressed publicly why I found it offensive. That was instructive to the conversation, IMO, because you thought it was OK to post those photos.

I'm pretty sure I was calling into question Djokovic's loyalty to his country before 2011. That dates back to when I learned he was tax-sheltering in Monaco, which was definitely before that, and you were the one who told us, on the old forums. I'm pretty sure that was as early as 2009. I do think he's a tax-dodger, though I have never said that is criminal, or that he is. I've said it's hypocritical, since he spends so much effort proclaiming himself a proud Serb. If it weren't for that, I'd have no problem. I just don't see how he can have it both ways. The French players who tax-dodge in Switzerland don't otherwise wrap themselves in the French flag. Therefore, no hypocrisy, if you take my point.

It was not 2009 as he had not moved to Monaco until 2011

No it was after he had thumped Rafa at Wimbledon that you became quite animated about his legally residing in Monaco... And yes there was the big discussion of Novak choosing for himself where to invest his money to help Serbia or giving it to the government to squander.

Then it came out that Rafa was doing some of his own shenanigans.

Well, even if it was 2011, it was around MC, and I expressed my shock then, and didn't wait until after Rafa had been getting his butt kicked by Novak. Because I was genuinely shocked. And it was you who told us, around the MC tournament.

You keep trying to paint Rafa with the same brush, but that dog doesn't hunt. Rafa lives in Mallorca, and therefore pays taxes there. Some of his money was in Basque corporations, which has a legal shelter, though some of those were not deemed fit to meet the shelter. But, I will point out, that the Basque country is in Spain. So, if Nadal was attempting to shelter some of his money through the system, at least it was still within Spain. In any case, there is no denying that he claims residence in Mallorca, and pays some of his money into the general good of Spain. Even Moya suggested that Rafa move his residency to Monte Carlo, and he declined. By a large margin, he keeps his money in Spain, and he can't shelter all of it. You may not feel the same, but I consider this more patriotic than one who waves the flag and wears the T-shirt, but pays nothing into the common good, and only benevolently makes donations that he designates, specifically, whether publicly, or quietly.

It's obvious you dislike Djokovic and hold his fans in similar disdain.

Lots of people dislike Nadal and his fans - for various reasons.

You see things very clearly through your glasses. Others don't look through the same lenses.

Agreed? Back to topic.

Your boy is continuously having his arse handed to him, whether by Djokovic, Murray or the numerous 2nd and 3rd tier players that are thumping him this year. What makes you think this is just a dip and not the end, or that he will win another two slams before calling it quits?

This is devolving into personal grudge. I agree it's time to move on.

Did anyone catch any of the Nadal-Kryrios match from last year at Wimbledon? He was actually toying with Rafa until making an UFE! Nick had Rafa on a string and was saved by superior serving when in trouble! I stopped counting at 30 aces after 3 sets; a couple saving set points against him! Rafa had chances, but for once, one of those 2nd and 4th tier players actually completed the job; this year many are doing it! When you have F3 winning back to back clay court matches against this man, you know his time may be near! I predicted it would be swift when it did happen; playing that ridiculous way allowing nobodies and never-weres to extend him to ultimate sets even in early rounds was bound to shorten his career! By all means though; "hang in there and get really embarrassed Rafa!" It's already ugly; question is how bad will he allow it to go? :cover  :dodgy:

Trying to give me a heart attack by agreeing with me? ;)

Nadal is much slower
His muscle mass is much diminished
He no longer has the explosive power he used to have
He is getting beaten with some regularity.
He has had half a year to come back to form and is in some ways further from it.

So why do you believe he still has two slams in him??

The big argument from his fans was that he needed to get his confidence back. What if the very thing that gave him the confidence - his foot speed, movement to the ball, stamina and explosive power is no longer there anymore? I see glimpses of it, but I don't see his ability to sustain it even in three set matches, let alone five setters.

Who me? I've already said before how pathetic the rest of the tour has been for years! I can imagine these guys forgetting how to play in the crunch and allowing him to win at least one more major! He still made it to the QF against Nole who was on top of his game! Murray is always vulnerable to the top 3, and you never know what Stan would show up in that final! Rafa very well could have won this one if not for Nole and this fabulous season of his! :dodgy:

What a thread......I rather don't go through it, and more after to read some comments from his retractors which are REALLY embarrasing and don't have any value
Nobody knows how many more GS Nadal will win, same like nobody knows how many GS Novak, Federer, Murray or whoever will win more, that's all

All opinions and thoughts have value. Even some of yours.

Of course we don't know. Everyone is just making predictions and talking about how they think Nadal will do going forward. That's the whole point of this forum. Do you understand what a forum is? Don't strike down someone's thought or opinion if it doesn't go along with your Nadal-colored glasses. You might learn something.

I know perfectly well what is a forum and also to give some opinions but reading "some kind of opinions" it's impossible to learn something good. And talking about colored glasses you should change yours ;)

I can see just fine thanks. I'm sure you will respond but I'm done commenting on your post. Try to have a more open mind. There are other players besides your clay idol.
