All opinions and thoughts have value. Even some of yours.

Of course we don't know. Everyone is just making predictions and talking about how they think Nadal will do going forward. That's the whole point of this forum. Do you understand what a forum is? Don't strike down someone's thought or opinion if it doesn't go along with your Nadal-colored glasses. You might learn something.

I know perfectly well what is a forum and also to give some opinions but reading "some kind of opinions" it's impossible to learn something good. And talking about colored glasses you should change yours ;)

I can see just fine thanks. I'm sure you will respond but I'm done commenting on your post. Try to have a more open mind. There are other players besides your clay idol.

Well, i have very open mind and I like others players besides Nadal but I see how many you like lol
Don't worry, no more futher questions, I have better things to do than to see how much someones are trying to put a Great Champion under the ground

So, how many more slams for Rafa?

"ZERO" would be nice, but you never know with this tour/group! At times they just forget how to play the game! It happens! :nono  :dodgy: :cover

Rafa's slam count from here on out hinges on him remembering how to play the game; not the tour forgetting.

Couldn't have said it better. He's no doubt lost some of his intimidation factor. It will be hard going, because he'll have to make the circling sharks remember who he really is again. It's doable

If by remembering, you mean being able to execute, I agree. Pretty sure he "remembers" what it took, Presently I don't see him possessing the wherewithal to make it happen.

Fortunately we won't be living in the "presently" forever. ;)

As he stands now, he's not making even one more slam final, but I expect him to improve. I remember when he came back in 2009, he was being schooled by blokes whose names are long forgotten. Took him til Madrid in 2010 before he beat a top ten bloke (Roger), and I know DP beat him handy twice, Nole bolstered his H2H against him three times, he played the WTF and made a fool of himself, more or less, and was way off the pace as late as Oz.

But he worked his guts off to get back to where he should be.

Big difference now, I know, and he's five years further down the road, but he's still young enough and strong enough to get it back...

No I meant he'll have to make the locker-room remember who he was. Not this facsimile. If he can get that intimidation factor going then he has a chance. I think it's never going to be the same again, but we've seen Roger still able to get success. These days his wins are more genuine if it makes sense. I mean he's really beating the guys he's beating as opposed to before when some of them just melted because they were playing TMF. He needs to work for those W's now, and Rafa will have to do the same

I mean remembering that the ball has to stay inside the lines, travel over the net, sail past the opponent, etc...

Well he has 2 out of 3 mastered! The ball is truly sailing; unfortunate it's hitting the backstop! :snicker :laydownlaughing

Fair enough...he is hitting like he feels that someone moved them tricky damned lines. :snicker

This is why Fed got married to Mirka. You cannot justify if he is less hungry. :snicker:cover

I'm sure you're just being funny, but Mirka is a beautiful woman, and extremely capable, on top of it. If Roger traveled the world to get away from the "ball and chain" and the crying babies, that would be one thing, but he's happy to drag around what must be a seriously unwieldy brigade to have his wife and his family with him. Whatever else he may or may not be the GOAT of, he has to be the greatest tennis player ever to schlep around with a wife, 4 kids, and still play elite tennis.

Agreed Moxie. And if for some bizarre reason anyone wants to target Mirka, consider the fact that she is easily the most accomplished of all the women in question. She had an athletic career of her own, but it was cruelly cut short by injury. Furthermore, when I spoke to Roger, one thing was clear. Mirka was even more keen for him to play on than he was at first. She's the one who wanted their children see their dad play :) Call her what you want... but 'ball and chain' definitely doesn't fit

I like fair mirka. she is cool and helps Federer be 'federer'..

although maybe fair mirka could ease off a bit on that gum chewing thing she's got going on during matches.

After playing a guy who gave him absolutely no rhythm, Rafa was unable to even hit his ground strokes by the end of the match. Then he holds his serve (to force Brown to serve for the match) and does a celebration like he had just won. It was embarrassing.

^I often think Rafa does those celebrations to try to get in opponents heads. Given his form this year, it doesn't look intimidating at all. Just desperate. Winning (or losing) can change perceptions

How was it embarrassing? he was still competing and he suddenly his a couple of forehands, which he'd shanked all day. It wasn't embarrassing at all. He was still fighting in that match...

Did you watch him against Bellucci? He had someone actually hitting the ball to him and his forehand and backhand were improving the whole match. By the end of this match he couldn't hit one off either wing. Rafa will always fight. :puzzled Except for that last set he played at the French this year. But a guy ranked outside the top 100 toyed with him at the net. I'm glad you weren't embarrassed.

Brother, you're just happy to put him down. I watched him against both Djoker, and also against Brown. He's going through the worst patch of his career, this is why these blokes are beating him, and you're knocking him for trying to gee himself up for a final burst today?

He wasn't "celebrating", that's a bizarre insinuation. He was trying to raise his own hackles for a last charge. That's not embarrassing, it's admirable...

I understand your point, and I realize he was trying to pump himself up

You're saying that he is still there and still fighting. That he just needs his confidence back to start winning like he used to. I am contending that the things his confidence was built upon just are not there anymore. I've watched this guy for years just like you.

We disagree.

We absolutely disagree if you still think that he was "celebrating like he had just won", or that it was "embarrassing." That's just you putting the man down, for no reason at all...

I've said the same thing about Rafa's act when his opponent is down and not playing well! No one needs that "performance" of Nadal where he's jumping around, pumping his arm and leg, then screaming "VAMOS" after every point is over! The same was said of Hewitt "in the day," but he wasn't likeable so he was lambasted more for it! :cover :nono  - Rafa's still #10 right now, but so many players behind him are still in Wimbledon and are in sniffing distance of taking him down even further! Any thoughts? :puzzled :nono :dodgy:
