My point is that she's really good looking. Last I knew, "fat" with a "ph" instead of an "f" was a GOOD thing. So, it stands to reason that "obese" with an "oh" is phatter than phat, which makes her REALLY phat...or REALLY good looking. It was intended to be a funny, with a "ph", way (which would make it a REALLY funny way) of giving her a compliment. Guess it actually turned out to be an epic failure with a "ph"...which makes it even MORE of an epic phailure. You phollow?

In other words...I think she's really pretty.

OK, the double negative "Ph-factor" did get confusing. "Phat" in current parlance means "great,", but you already use the PH for your own reasons. Who was to decode? There is almost no woman for whom any version of "fat/phat" can be used successfully, and if you're going to try to make a joke including "obese," you are going to fail, epically, as you phully admit. It's phine on the boards, but I'd be more cautious in my personal life, if I were you, or you could be looking at years of recriminations. And "I meant it as a joke" is not going to help you. :laydownlaughing

Most Tennis Phrontier phans would pheasibly prepher phor the phunky posts to phade away pfor the phorseeable phuture. :dodgy:

You've warned me bephore, but I just can't help myselph! I guess either you mods will have to ban me, or peeps will just have to put me on their ignore list.

It's not uncommon to put on a bit of weight after 4 kids I'd imagine! Still good looking if you ask me. This is a pretty recent one.

His dislike of Rafa goes beyond anything you can imagine Kirean, it's Darth's prerogative. I will leave it at that.

For the record, I think Roger got himself a good one. She's smart, beautiful, fights for her man (just ask Wawrinka) and gave him not one but two sets of twins. Holy Moley. I wish we could stop talking about her weight on this forum.

Apparently we can't, (see above,) though I'm with you in preferring if we did. I guess everyone has done all the prognosticating they can on Rafa's future Slam count, until further evidence of the resurgence/decline presents itself.

The question is whether Rafa's resume or Mirka will get fatter from now on. Some would say that both are already maxed out and cannot get fatter any further. :snicker:cool:

I'm not playing with the cheap jokes at Mirka's expense any longer. But do you seriously think that Rafa is finished padding his resume at 29?

No, I was just joking. Before we got digressed, I posted a serious reply. I fully expect Rafa to win at least one more Grand Slam.

More specifically, I expect Rafa to go slamless this year. I expect Rafa to win at least one next year. After that he will never win a Slam after going through a slamless year (but may continue to win more until he encounters another slamless year).

I did not vote as I don't have a specific answer for the poll. But, I expect it to be 1 or 2.

You have glowed endlessly over Djokovic's wife, and been rather sentimental over his special commitment to his tennis given that he has a new baby and is now married. It surprises me that you would make fun of Mirka, given your effusiveness towards Nole and his wife and son. If you think marriage and fatherhood is so good for Novak, then you might also think the same for Roger, who has more than demonstrated it. And you should admire Roger's commitment to Mirka, through thick and thin, as it were. They've been together since he was 19. At some point, he could easily have dumped her for some super-model, but he didn't. I would think that you would value this heavily, given all the hearts and flowers that you rain down on Novak and Jelena.

Thank you for the lecture. Did I cast aspersions on Roger's marriage, or his commitment to Mirka? No. Did I preface my post with the statement "like many of us"? Yes. I am sorry to read that my posts of Novak and Jelena have been bothersome to you. A few more years, a few more children and a few more pounds will probably be in Jelena's future as well.

In the meantime...

It had already been said on this thread that comments about Mirka's weight were thought to be a bit out-of-line and mean-spirited. I'll admit I rather "lectured" everyone on that, so you were not singled out. :snicker Folks were moving off of it and you brought it back. You really didn't have to do that. It was a choice, which is not mitigated by "like many of us...." It was rather mean and unnecessary. And inconsistent. You can be rather swoony when it comes to Nole and his wife and family. It's actually a feature of all of the Novak fans, not just you. But if you're going to be so "love/family/kids are everything" about it, and as a motivating factor, then I was surprised why you would make such fun of Roger's partner. She's his choice, and it's not really hard to see why. No, you didn't outwardly denigrate his marriage or his commitment to Mirka, but two pictures might be worth 2,000 words. You fat-shamed Mirka. What other conclusion would be drawn, when you are dissing his wife? I will make the point again that you didn't have to search for those pictures nor choose to post them. Bottomline, I found it hypocritical.

And then you feel the need to post glam photos of the lovely Jelena. It's a bit of "my player's wife is prettier than yours." Silly, really. And, tbh, a few more pounds are in basically everyone's future, so that's not giving over much.

Dig. Dig. Dig. Your posts speak more than Rafa's diminished play that his future is not very bright. You may try to tell yourself he has two more slams in him. I'm just glad you have Murray in the wings. :snicker

You have to say that because of how "weak-minded" and "gutless" the rest of the tour has shown themselves to be in the past! I've talked extensively how disappointed I've been in the 2nd & 3rd echelon of players that have allowed the "Big 4" to rule the majors for so many years! Outside of Stan, Cilic, and Del Po, no one else has been able to break the lock on 1000's & 2000 events; even when Roger fell off a couple years ago, he was permitted to rise back to #2 in the world! That just shouldn't happen with the talent there is on tour; problem between the ears of these guys who "can't seem to finish" when they have opportunities to take down a huge scalp! :cover :puzzled :nono  :dodgy:

I voted "zero" Fiero. In the past I never counted Nadal out of a come back, but seeing him this year, there's nothing that says there is anything left. Roger's game could be tweaked to keep him competitive and his serve would always be there to keep him in a match. Same cannot be said for Rafa. His movement is diminished and that explosiveness that he seemed to be able to muster at will is nowhere to be found - except maybe in spurts. I could be wrong, but (imo) he's done.

Make it about my Nadal fandom, if you like, rather than your unkindness and how one should venerate one player's wife, then alternately, make fun of another player's wife. My championing of Mirka clearly has nothing to do with the number of Slams that Nadal may or may not yet achieve, or my opinion about that. The issue of weight and concepts of body/beauty are complicated for women, and so I was defending Mirka from a feminist position. Surely that was off-topic, but also it had nothing to do with how many Slams I think Rafa might yet get.

For those who care, TCC is replaying Nadal - Kyrgios match from last year's Wimbledon! Rafa just got outplayed by the kid; had over 30 aces after 3 sets alone which got him out of trouble again and again! The 4th set will start soon!
