The grass slows down considerably in the 2nd week of Wimbledon. And it is much slower to begin with, which has helped Rafa and hurt Roger.
that's probably why Manacor's bull won Wimbly so many times and Mr Vavrinec 0 time....this stupid slow grass !!

And don’t you think 8 is a great number?. Not everybody like torpedo serve and volley, many people likes long rallies because are a lot more exciting

I think 11 finals is great, only winning 8 is terrible for the best player on his best surface. 8 overall is ok, just almost certainly would've been more on the good grass.

Boodles field is loaded with talent. Sasha, JMDP, Nick, Anderson, Grigor, Borna, Uncle Sam and so on. No wonder that Rafa bypassed it and went to Hurlingham.

Seeds officially announced today by Wimbledon. On the Men's side we knew who the seeds will be as it is determined by the formula and I posted the seeds on Sunday itself. Anyway, here they are in order. Verdasco got seeded due to Berdych's withdrawal.

  2. NADAL, Rafael (ESP)
  3. CILIC, Marin (CRO)
  4. ZVEREV, Alexander (GER)

  32. VERDASCO, Fernando (ESP)

On the women's side it is decided subjectively by a committee. They seeded Serena as #25.
No explanation given so far. Here are the seeded women in order. I can safely say that none of the top 7 seeds will win Wimbledon. Other than seeding Serena at #25, all other seedings are strictly based on current rankings. Cibulkova would have been seeded at #32 had it not been for Serena and has made her objections vocal.

  1. HALEP, Simona (ROU)
  2. WOZNIACKI, Caroline (DEN)
  3. MUGURUZA, Garbiñe (ESP)
  4. STEPHENS, Sloane (USA)
  5. SVITOLINA, Elina (UKR)
  6. GARCIA, Caroline (FRA)
  7. PLISKOVA, Karolina (CZE)
  8. KVITOVA, Petra (CZE)

Andy still unsure of playing in Wimbledon . He says he is fit enough to play (i.e., there is no danger of hurting himself if he plays), but not sure whether he should even be playing as he won't be competitive.

As Andy is unseeded (unlike before when he messed up the draw on more than one occasion) there will not be any need to rebalance the draw if he withdraws. So, he can take as much time as he wants to decide. Does not have to decide in a hurry before the draw comes out. So, he might as well check out as to whether the draw is kind to him and decide based on that. If he withdraws, a lucky loser (a randomly selected player from one of the four highest ranked losers of the third round of the qualifying tourney) will be placed directly in his spot.

While I hope he does play, I respect the fact that it is his decision in the end & he wants to do his utmost best. If he doesn't feel that he's able to do his utmost best & only wants his fans to see him at his best then that is the correct decision but at the end of the day the ball's in his court.

I know this isn't 100% relevant but just wondered why artificial grass is becoming more popular than proper grass other than the facts that it is quicker to lay & doesn't take as much looking after. I've never walked on artificial grass so wondered if it's the same for walking or running on as normal grass.

Back on the topic of tennis, the last couple of days I've been coming up with ideas for a poem about Wimbledon. Would anyone like me to share it or would you prefer me to keep it to myself or write it in my poetry section?

Silly logic...faster grass and the score would be more like 10-0 in Wimbledon's won.
Both of you are wrong if you are sayin winning something 8 times and you are the best player on that surface..isn’t Great..winning 8 or more times makes you pretty much immortal

He is the best player ever and it's his best surface. 8 is the minimum he should have there. Roger has done a great job getting to the final but 8-3 for who he is is a poor record. 10-1 would be good.

It just shows that it's easier to dominate clay than grass.

The quals are over.

Notable winners of last round: Gulbis, Bolt (Hewitt's doubles partner), Christian Harrison (Ryan's bro).

Notable losers of last round: The Aussies Tomic and Kokk, J. Melzer, Polansky, J. Ward of GB and S. Boleli.

Not a single brit qualified and so the number of brits in the main draw shall be 5 or 4 depending on whether Andy decides to play or not.

I do agree with that but at the end of the day Roger has no one to blame but himself for some of the poor performances in the final. It isn't just the ones he lost (2 were bad performances), he's played poorly in at least a couple that he won.

Roddick was the 2009 Champion except for one single bad volley by him. Roger had no business winning that match. Even in the 5th, he had so much difficulty closing it out. Andy lost that 5th set rather than Roger winning it. In 2008 Nadal undoubtedly was the better player but Roger had no excuse coming into the match with zero mental preparation after that whipping in RG. Many were projecting Nadal as the champion and Roger was just in denial.

Yes, but like I said Roger underperformed in both. That good old phrase "on paper" he shouldn't lose to Nadal or Roddick on grass, not even close really. I'd also say his play in 2009 was quite a bit worse than the 2008 final.
