I don't get it. could be last time in Geneva but no plans for retirement...doesn't "last time" imply possible retirement?
Fed is a master of suspense during his interviews. Whenever asked a question requiring diplomatic response, e.g. what was the difference between him and the opponent, he invariably uses the word "maybe" even in reporting measurable facts: "maybe I served better than him", "maybe I played better in pivot points", etc. Other players also use such language but Fed almost abuses it. The topic of retirement is the most difficult diplomatic & emotional topic so expect the word "maybe" (explicit or implied) to be on top of Fed vocabulary and get over it. He may actually run it for quite some time.I don't get it. could be last time in Geneva but no plans for retirement...doesn't "last time" imply possible retirement?
Frankly I don't know which case is more probable: yours (that mrzz joked) or mine (that he was serious) and I don't mind being an eventual subject of a prank. I'm happy to live in a parallel universe of two possibilities until the objective truth about Fed musical skills emerges: e.g. when Fed indeed composes a song to his wife as he promised herein, and the song will be a non-plagiarised piece, confirmed by music experts better than me.You fell for mrzz's prank. At least the "one handed" play should have given it away.

No plans for retirement
Federer will retire at next years Olympics games for sure thats give him 4 more chances to win one more slam?
I don’t see how it is reasonable. People are just speculating about Riger’s retirement, and any guess is reasonable. I think he can play for another 3 years! That's a reasonable estimate but my guess is that he hangs up his racket at Basel. That way he has a reasonable chance of winning his last tournament...and I wouldn't be surprised if out of respect, the other players kind of let him have it.

I was just being ironic. My point was that people are throwing around all kinds of speculations. The one you were referring to, from a Nadal fan, is kind of cliche. It is not news!! Clearly the Nadal fan loves Roger. The same Nadal fan who said that Rafa was playing the best tennis at the AO, only to backtrack after a drubbing from Djokovic.Do you realize how you contradicted yourself? You said you don't see how it is reasonable, but that any guess is reasonable.
But sure, he could play another three years or he could retire after this year. We don't know.
He was before the final, then he absolutely wasn’t himself against Djoker.I was just being ironic. My point was that people are throwing around all kinds of speculations. Djokovic is a daunting challenge, which made Nadal nervous in the final. He was before the final, then he absolutely wasn’t himself against Djoker.

The problem is that the Nadal fan makes a lot of incoherent statements but you can always sift through the statements to find something reasonable. It is all speculation. So what? Just because s/he is a Rafa fan doesn't mean everything s/he says about Roger is completely off-base or inherently malicious. Can we at least try to be non-partisan?
Ultimately none of us has any clue when Roger will retire. I think we can safely say it won't be this year but it will be within the next 3-5 years. 2020, 2021, 2022? Who knows. I think a lot depends on this year. What I saw at the AO wasn't promising. I think there's enough of his old skill set that he could, witth a bit of luck, win another Slam. I definitely think he could win more titles, another fast-court Masters or three. But I also wouldn't be totally surprised if he ends 2019 coming up empty in big titles, only having won a 250/500 or two (going over 100 titles), and then considers making 2020 his farewell tour.
Pigeonholing all of a player’s fans only ends up pigeonholing you.The problem is that the Nadal fan makes a lot of incoherent statements but you can always sift through the statements to find something reasonable.
Maybe you didn't notice that I was referring to a single Nadal fan.Pigeonholing all of a player’s fans only ends up pigeonholing you.
Apologies. I thought “the Nadal fan” meant the typical Nadal fan.Maybe you didn't notice that I was referring to a single Nadal fan.
No worries mate.Apologies. I thought “the Nadal fan” meant the typical Nadal fan.
