Zverev v. Tsitsipas seems an exciting match.

Murray pulled out. It seems that he had threatened to do so due to the crappy scheduling. Whether or not that's so, I think he's wise to save his energy for the bigger tournaments coming. Nice effort in DC. He's looking like he's getting back to form.

Murray has pulled out of the Rogers Cup too.

He's got a point about scheduling - finishing up at 3am.

I am not sure if I am being harsh or not but, I don't get why Murray is pulling out of this tournament , assuming it is not the hip thing.
The way I see it, if you are entering a tournament, you have to be fit enough to go the distance in all the matches, all the way to the final. Even plan for situations where you may have to play twice a day because of circumstances. That is what it means to be ready. Unless of course you know you are not ready but you just want to get a couple of matches under your belt, a practice I do not like at all.

If it wasn't him, it would have been someone else! He should be treated commiserate to his ranking and "give him the hand" concerning the lateness of the hour! If this idiot would finish off a match in a timely fashion, he wouldn't be so worn out! Cry me a river! :rain:

Agreed man. Really like Tsitsipas, think he's going all the way to the top.
And he's got the 1HBH. Not to encourage you cultists, but I think the kid has stardust on him.

I actually do think you are being harsh. The notion that someone enters a tournament fully fit and ready to go the distance is a bit naive. Or uncaring. Murray is working himself back to full fitness and tournament readiness. He's an elite player. Surely he's allowed to use a 500 as a tester, and bail when he needs to. I'm sorry he's pulled out of Toronto, but it looks like he's trying to measure what he can do and save himself for the big moments.

Absolute slime! I hate when some player kills himself to win a match then bails like this! It's so disrespectful of the fallen player! :nono:

Easy to be judgmental, but it's not your career, is it? And why is it disrespectful of the guy who lost? He lost. You don't know how Murray's hip is feeling after that match. Why don't you put some of those emoticons back in your pocket and try feeling empathy for a player on the comeback?

Also another thing, maybe he (Fiero) should try to play tennis for three hours and finish at 3 am then TRY to play tennis again later that day.

Like Moxie says, Murray is on a comeback trail right now. He will be foolish to play a tennis match after finishing at 3 AM! He is being smart here short and long term...

I agree that he made a good decision in pulling the plug on rest of DC. However, I don't understand why he is pulling out of Toronto, unless his hip is acting up. He needs match practice and since he is likely to lose early (considering he is on comeback and considering these are Masters tourneys where you cannot ease your way into it) in Masters tourneys and so, he should have played both Toronto and Cincy. He should not expect to play more than six full matches in both the tourneys put together. If he cannot play six three set matches over two weeks, then he surely cannot play seven five set matches over two weeks at USO.

Anyway, I hope Toronto now gives that WC to Stan instead.

If Tsitsipas wins, then we will have a battle of teenagers in the final of an ATP 500 for the first time since 1742.:drums:

Exactly what the circuit needs right now.

I jumped ahead. This is a 48 player draw with top 16 getting bye. So, Alex DeMinaur also has one more match to go before reaching the final.
While Tsitsipas needs to win against Sasha, Alex needs to win against the winner of Rublev/Kudla QF match.

More than his 1HBH, his diving volleys are amazing. However, I am afraid these diving volleys, while entertaining to watch, would lead to injuries too often for him. Hope, he is mindful of that aspect.

I said the same thing about Roger a few years ago at the YEC in the SF's! Federer was obviously struggling with an injury, but playing his countryman and detractor Stan W. it was worth going all out to win! Even Mirka got into it w/ Warwrinka on the court; Roger needing to come back from the dead to win the match a week before their DC contest against France! Of course he defaulted his match against Djokovic in the final; Nole was owning him anyway around that time! I'll pass giving him any empathy, warring with Stan just in time for DC! I was surprised they overcame their mutual bad feeling and differences to go on to win the CUP for Switzerland! :nono:

bad period for Sir Andy and poor schedule from Washington, it's not normal to finish a match at 3:OO AM
