Seemed like Murray would win that TB, but Copil pulled it off. He's being the aggressive one. Normally, you'd say that's all he has, but who knows, with this version of Murray. Will have to see if he can withstand 3. Also, de Minaur just beat Cheong in 3. De Minaur's stock on the rise and Chueng's seems to be falling.

All R1-3 Murray matches lasting well over 2h, with this last match 03:02 finishing at 2am local time. And more to come because he's won. de Minaur won't be any easier opponent in QF.
That's more like best of 5 rather than 3. Murray pulled out of wimby citing his body was not prepared for best of 5 tourney. But is it prepared for what he's going through in DC?

This is the way he's been playing for a while now! He had a more aggressive game years ago and approached the net a lot, now he only seems to go there when in trouble! Unfortunately he's always in trouble and down a set before he gets his act together! He's an idiot who kvetches about his body breaking down, but plays the game actually doing the job to himself going hours unnecessarily! :nono: :banghead: :cuckoo:

He's made a career out of that nonsense and the bookies in Europe are so stupid they still haven't copped it. They still give 10-1 odds often for Murray to lose the first set and win the match at slams and even mickey mouse tournaments.

Tsitsipas defeats Goffin. Super delighted for the young Greek.
He is heading for stardom.

Well, I'm going to be brave here & put myself in the firing line & say Andy Murray.
Murray pulled out. It seems that he had threatened to do so due to the crappy scheduling. Whether or not that's so, I think he's wise to save his energy for the bigger tournaments coming. Nice effort in DC. He's looking like he's getting back to form.

If Tsitsipas wins, then we will have a battle of teenagers in the final of an ATP 500 for the first time since 1742.:drums:

Exactly what the circuit needs right now.

I just watched the end of the Murray/Copil match. For those of you who don't like Andy, and take every opportunity to slag him off, why don't you watch how he cried after winning that match. It does say something about what getting back to the tour means to him. Especially in a 3rd round, with about 12 people left in the stands.

Sasha beats Nishikori. Sloppy towards the end, but gets it done.
