bad period for Sir Andy and poor schedule from Washington, it's not normal to finish a match at 3:OO AM

It may not be normal, but bad scheduling, weather, and matches going unnecessarily long might cause it to happen! At the USO well over 30 years ago, some poor slob finished his 5 setter well after midnight; had him back on the court at noon for the 1st match of the day! Of course he went down with no fight, but it happens to lower ranked players all the time; MURRAY's way down and doesn't deserve more consideration than any other player! Maybe if he'd come out there to play seriously from the beginning, his matches might not last 3 hours against players not on his level! :nono:  :banghead: :cuckoo:

Instead of focusing on who is not in the tournament anymore, it is worth to look at who is still left, because this is a preview of the future if this sport.
Believe it or not, Sasha Zverev is the oldest of the 4 remaining players:
Zverev 21
Rublev 20
De Minaur and Tsitsipas 19 y each.

If not all of them, but most of them will be the stars in a few years, perhaps all in the top 10 at some point. Of course Sasha is #3, I think in not the distant future all the other 3 will climb close to the top.

What is that in English please? You have some eaves-droppers here who don't understand.

More than his 1HBH, his diving volleys are amazing. However, I am afraid these diving volleys, while entertaining to watch, would lead to injuries too often for him. Hope, he is mindful of that aspect.
I did see a great diving volley in the match today, for a winner. And he did get scraped up a bit. I'm sorry he didn't make more of a match of it today, but Sasha is looking determined here.

I haven't been able to watch any of the tournament, but it was and is exciting to see the NextGen dominating it. I'm especially glad to see Rublev playing so well after his weak comeback tournaments at Umag and Gstaad. I think he's going to turn some heads over the next few months and really take a jump next year.

We have a new match. De Minaur saves 4 MPs to take it to the decider. Battle of the #nextgen on.

Me too :)
He pulled it off, it was sensational
Gutsy win for the 19-year old. Good stuff. And he barely weighs more than a sack of smoke.

In his case what matters are the speed and technique.

He's got a big serve for a seeming little guy. Very quick. And I'm guessing he can grow a bit more.

That was one of the best tennis matches all year. I've been rooting for De Minaur for a while and would want him to be my main player after the Big 3 retire. I think he can win 6-8 slams due to his fighting spirit. The only problem is that he is an Australian.

If that is the only problem, it is easy to fix. He can emigrate to Kazakhstan. :D

On a serious note, Alex really does not have any particular weapon that stands out (not that he cannot develop one, as he is so young)
and so I don't see him as a multislam winner at this time. He has a very level head (especially considering his age) and that seems to be his main positive point. Can you imagine the possibilities, if only you can take Alex's head and transplant it to say to that of Fog, Clown or Bad Boy.

He seems like he has room to grow, and therefore develop weapons. He's already got a good serve and a steady nerve.

I understand you point. I feel that he is pretty similar to Hewitt in a lot of ways. If he gets lucky and no Federer or Nadal comes around though I feel that he could win more than 2. New Zealand is a lot closer than Kazakhstan.

Regarding the weapons, this notion that one needs a weapon to become a slam winner is wrong. Who invented it ???
A good defender who takes the ball early can defeat a guy with tons of weapons. Do I need to come up with examples ? Because I have a few.

His footwork and speed is more efficient than a so called "weapon"

I agree with you, but it is still to be seen whether or not that will be enough for him to win multiple slams. It could wear him out over the five set format. A weapon has the advantage that it can shorten points when you are getting tired. However, as I said I am a big believer in him.
