As Clay used to say, not happy with the Swiss warrior. How many backhand winners did he hit in the last 2 matches he played? I think it is 0 (zero). And only 6 forehand winners in 3 sets today. I accept losing a step, shanks and random errors, but not hitting winners bothers me.

Didn't see the stats so thanks for posting them but that was a very poor performance no doubt about it. :s

I will accept this amount of clay death emulation but no more. The next you know, Murat will be suggesting Roger only play Basel, Bercy, the WTF, Dubai, Halle, and Wimbledon.:nono

I'm guessing Ginepri hasn't a prayer against Raonic but hope I'm wrong.

wouldn't it be a laugh if milos "did a Roddick" and won his 1st masters here and then won the u s open like a-rod did in 2003..

ok it would only be "two thirds of a Roddick" if milos won cincinatti as he didn't win in Canada..if I remember right Roddick won both hc masters before 2003 u s open, so milos cannot "do a full Roddick".

A sneak preview of Raonic's US Open attire has been leaked.

If my calculations are correct and live-tennis.eu can be trusted, Murray will pip Dimitrov to an 8th place seeding at the US Open if he reaches the final this week.

Isner will be a tricky test tomorrow. It should be a good match up for Andy but he can't give Isner too many of his rubbish second serves to slap away.

Not sure how much Mauresmo can do to help improve Murray's 2nd serve but it's definitely his achilles heel for a long time alright and needs to be addressed if he wants to make strides.

What do people here think about having two Master 1000 events back-to-back? Indian Wells/Miami, Rome/Madrid, Rogers Cup/Cincinnati.

Is it a good idea?

I love it and they do have ample rest time before the US Open so I can't personally say it's a bad idea. Take Tsonga, for example. He's perfectly rested now. He won Toronto and lost in the first round here. Unless you win them both or go deep in both it's not really an issue and even if you do then you've still got ample time to recover and better still, you've had more practice than the rest who lost early.

As an aside, the irony for the WTA is that it's actually more of a feat to win back to back masters 1000 events than a slam because of the lack of day off at the masters. Not the case for the men as they play best of 5 at slams which makes that a much harder task. But I think history is placing a bit much importance on slams for the women in all honesty when you consider the quality of players at masters 1000 events featuring no day off versus nobodies in the early rounds of slams and a day off after every round.

I think part of the motivation here is to cut down the travel/lodging costs for players.
If you give a week in between, what are they going to do. Too short to go home and then
come back. Waste of time and money staying in hotels, not just for them, remember that
they have to pay for the whole entourage of coach, physio, hitting partner, trainer etc etc.

Dimi left the window cracked, didn't he? Well, let's see what Andy is capable of. Isner plays here better than he did since Atlanta.
