Quite frankly Novak's return game has been below par today,
Novak came down to IW early to prepare

I told a friend in a text that I gave Nardi a 25% chance of holding when he was serving for it. The kid faced a big test today, and passed it.

Nardi had 34 winners to Novaks 17, he also has great hands at the net, he held his nerve when he was broken, he was playing a challenger event of late
Nardi deserved his win, also his idol is Novak :)

Nice scalp Luca!

It had to happen sooner or later! Is this a preview of things yet to come or the beginning of the end? I'm sure Novak will get something out of this loss! There's no doubt he's going to Miami to make up for this early exit! No AO or an IW win ahead of his visit South! Such a rarity! Alcaraz & Sinner have a chance to close in on him for #1 if either wins IW, then does well in Miami! :astonished-face: :fearful-face:  :face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Luca Nardi jumps into the top 100 - now at #95 in the live rankings. He's 20 and a month or two younger than Alcaraz and Rune, but hasn't won a title yet. He also hasn't made it out of the qualies at Slams, but won 5 Challengers in 2022-23.

I can't remember why I know his name...maybe playing the Next Gen tournament last year?

Let's face it, Novak is 36 years old. It IS the beginning of the end, no matter how long he attenuates it. What is he going to take from this loss? That he needs to return better? No, nothing. He played as well as he could, for his age, against someone who out-played him. What he's going to take away from it is that he'd better get used to it. #fathertime

We'll see! Who was it that said, "the reports of my death were greatly exaggerated?" Nole only needs a MC Masters to own 3 Golden Masters, then a FO to have 4 CGS's! Everything's gravy as we all know by now; anything just increasing the lead he already owns in all the important records! :fearful-face:
