Horrible Stats for the former #1:

0 Aces, 7 DFs
30 winners
33 UE's
First serve % = 80
1st serve % won = 59

Everything is still very broken with Rafa's game especially his serve and ROS. My expectations are not very positive about his tennis for the rest of the summer. Damn

Zverev di not play today, what are you talking about?

IMO he didn't! He missed some easy shots due to nerves probably, but played well enough to trouble Rafa! Who doesn't trouble him though; lucky to finish in 2 sets! :nono :dodgy: - It was ugly! :eyepop

Rafa manages to scrape through. Watched the second set TB alone. Apparently, Rafa was broken three times in the second set alone.

Rafa had seven double faults with no aces to go with. Further he had 33 unforced errors in a 2 set match.

He still has a lot of work to do.

I watched only the TB. But, based on that it did not look like Zverev played great either.

Did you notice when Rafa was serving for the match, he would strike a cc bh and not make one step over to the proper recovery position, so the kid would pound his lefty inside in fh up the baseline, that's a tennis no no. Rafa played like a 3.5 player when he served for the match. What in the Hell have his camp been working on. Heck hire me as a consultant, I need some part time cash for my daughter's college tuition.

My goodness, what a AWFUL game and serve by Nadal, what a #%€¥ is going with him? sorry but it's not normal, I don't see anything wrong of his movements but a lot errors that he hasn't done before even when he was a beginner. More healthy than ever and worse game than never
How long he is going to play like that? :cover :puzzled:deadhorse
Maybe he can learn something of them.....jzzzz

And the kid is playing better than his master at the moment. Held firm in the 2nd set and stood his ground in the TB to push Bolleli to 3 sets.

:lolz: :laydownlaughing Me and a fellow poster here were talking about becoming his consultants actually. Where do we sign up? :D
Perhaps, (don't get any crazy ideas here) we strap him to a chair and make him watch highlights of his 2013 matches.

The kid can't hold his serve in the 10th game so Bolleli breaks for the match win 6-4 in the decider. Still a very good effort from the kid and I suspect a lesson learned and experience gained on how to play the pressure points.

Yep. It's a good idea and at the same time he is watching those great matches we would tell him: " not more commercials, soccer, poker and golf, too many distractions and.....FOCUS MORE ON TENNIS!!!!!!

Cuevas is a good clay player. I suspect Rafa will raise his game a notch and win a tight one. Today's Rafa against a good Cuevas is not going to cut it though.

You're right about that. I figured Vesely could be tricky (they'd never met) and he was, but Rafa had way too many UFEs, and was not clutch when he first served for the match. He'd better not give Cuevas so many opportunities. The commentator I was watching said, "The King of Clay hasn't shown up in Hamburg, but Rafa's still in the tournament." Too true, but part of that is a good thing, anyway.
