Good effort by Ferrer but he sends a bit gassed. Rafa was up a notch from recent - and I think he'll get even better...

Who does Nadal play next? It used to be winners vs winners and losers vs losers. So, Wawrinka?

Great game by Ferrer, very honest effort by that man! Rafa has to make sure he stays loose because Ferrer can make this one sticky if Rafa tightens...

Praising 1 good game from Ferret and thinking Rafa had something to be worried about? Did you bong a Guinness before typing that :laydownlaughing

:lolz:

Barely showing a pulse is a good effort now  Hopefully the Ferret puts on a decent show from here on out, I want a Roger-Daveeeed semi if such a miracle exists!

Yup, it will be Nadal vs. Wawrinka and Berdych vs. Ferrer

A few bad stats for Rafa:

54% first serve

9 winners/20 errors

Good God and he still won by that scoreline. How horrendous was Ferrer??

A truly appalling effort. He only won 25 points of which 20 were errors by Nadal. :cry

Lets hope the second match is better

What I hate about the tweets is at this stage you should not be a fanboy. Even Nadal fans did not go that far in celebrating that win , heck he posted the king of clay tweet 3 times . If you are a fan of that player , you cannot play your best in the match and which is why he has lost about 15 times in a row.

Yeah that was a great one, at 40:40 I think it was, which highlighted one of Nadal's most underrated shots - his rallye slice in defending positions which he puts crosscourt with huge depth and spice which stays low, draws the opponent out of the picture and opens up the entire court. I've seen him make use of it a lot in the past to turn defense into offense and it's definitely much more effective than his pretty lame and high bouncing slice out of neutral rallies which often results in easy put-away winners as it lands in most players striking zone.

Told Kieran I would own up if I was wrong about my predictions: I thought Rafa would step it up here against David. They both stepped it down... off a precipice.

He never stopped trying, so that's a good effort by any definition. But he was up against an improved Rafa and he looked gassed. No shame in any of that...

Alrighty you can just come out and say it is a great effort if someone wins a single point vs. Rafa. I bet RG 08 was a great effort from Roger and we all saw how heroic he was in having a 65 grass court winning streak snapped.
