Breaks exchanged to begin

This surface definately doesnt suit Rafa

True, but I think it's interesting to see him try to adjust.

whats happenned to his serve ? Not getting any free points like he did in North America

Not playing super sharp, but he's moving quite well, which is always a great sign.

Beauty of this event is that you have to start in the high gears. Rafa stepped up a little and got the break. Let's hope he holds this time...

I can't see the different speeds of his serves -- are they slower?

OK, I saw that ace was 126 mph. That's really good for Rafa.

He's not getting the same mph on the serve, but he could place it a little better like he did at the USO. The biggest thing I see is he dropping the ball way too short on his groundies. If he doesn't get more depth on those shots, he will struggle against the big hitters.

Ferrer is giving Rafa a lot of backhands - and it looks good! Rafa's getting a lot of them quite deep...

I meant he is fluffing them in and not dictating with it like he did in North America . Of course it improved in the last game but we will see whether that continues

Rafa seems to be struggling to spread the court with his forehand. It's difficult to explain watching, but there are times when it doesn't even occur to me that he might miss... this is not one of those times.

Any match with these 2 is going to be ugly as hell depending on your tastes.

yup they are too short . The good thing is the backhand which is going pretty deep

The match needed that shot... it's been a dud, to be honest.
