Highly entertaining match where Svitolina had to be at her best to win the match - Coco played really well so an upcoming player for sure

Impressive performance from Iga Swiatek defeating Giorgi 62 64 she will play Fiona Ferro in Rd 3

Note.....Her dress is too dowdy for such a young player.....makes her look like she is in one of her grandmother's dresses .:)
Not everyone can be a fashion plate. But now that she's a slam champ she has the $$, clearly she needs someone in her life to advise of such things. :womansclothes: I would be happy to be a part-time consultant :thinking-face:

Kind of expected that. She's either a flash in the pan or having a sophomore slump. Time will reveal.
I didn't. I didn't see the match so cannot pass judgement. I really thought she would be one of four main contenders of winning the A.O. It wasn't her day.

I didn't see her getting past R4. So losing to Kanepi is not all bad. She's a vet who's no stranger to defeating top 10 players that aren't confident or consistent.

Another factor was she was 'feeling the pressure of being defending champion' she admitted to feeling nervous, which can play a role in how you play on the court.

An AO is not complete without Sam. Stosur losing in a show court early. This time in an embarrassing manner with a score line involving a bagel and a breadstick.

It's repeating at this moment! Gauff trying to hold at 4-5! I don't think she got there!
I am just watching the highlights of that match at the moment,Gauff's serve can falter at times under pressure, lets remember she is a teenager, this is good experience for her,for the future.Gauff did take out Osaka in the AO last year.

Daniel Andrews,Premier of Victoria has just announced a lock down starting at midnight tonight Friday till next Wednesday at midnight I do not know how this will effect the AO as he said 'no public gatherings are allowed' trying to get clearer information. There is a mutation of the COVID-19 from England which has escalated.,through the Holiday Inn in Melbourne,
One thing is certain there will be no fans.
I will wait for an announcement from Craig Tiley,AO Director.

Serena has a match on her hands here,Potpova has come to play, service breaks between the pair and Potpova is trying to serve for the 1st set 5-4....EEK she had 5 DFS and Serena breaks back.Potpova has apparently changer her service action from last year,at present it is not working for her when it matters, ball toss is too high for starters.
