JJ wins and goes for the tear-away shirt. I wonder if they'll start building them that way. :laydownlaughing

Not a fan of Ferrer's post match analysis that he lost set 2 because he made a lot of mistakes and won set 3 set 6-0 because he made no mistakes. Yeah right. Mannarino hit some fantastic shots. Pfff.

That's rather rich from a Federer fan.

In fairness Federer hasn't made any lame excuses since he lost to Berdych in 2010 and is complementary to everyone. When the full match is online later watch set 2 and see that Mannarino won it with some fantastic play and that's sour grapes from Ferrer and not giving his opponent any credit.

Even if that's true Front. Why would he need give his opponent credit? He won the match, right?

We're not talking about lame excuses. Ferrer won. You're saying that Ferrer talked about his win being on his own racquet without giving his opponent credit, if I read you right. Sound familiar?

Er, because he played well and it's the decent thing to do/say unless you're a completely self centred prick?

Classic match point from Ferrer on Mannarino's serve. It was a long rally, and Ferrer bullied him, and then picked him off with a winner. (And :ras: the those of you who diss him by calling him "Ferret." He's got more game and will than…well, you can imagine. The list is long.)

Newbie here to the "Ferret" moniker. I think it's clever. Even after Mannarino won a set, I doubt anyone really thought David would lose. He's fit ferret. :)

How about he wins the match and says : It was tough out there. Very hot and he played very well. I'm glad I won in 4 sets. Something like that. Not I made a lot of mistakes in set 2 and made none in set 3.

Youzhny out, Dodig retired. Anyone keeping track of the retirements? Looking more and more like it is going to be the survival of the fittest, no?

In day 2, it is 4 men and 1 women.

That was yesterday numbers. What about today's?

Actually in day 2, it is 5 men and 1 women (not counting the withdrawal of Kohlschrbrier).

Today, there is only one so far viz. Dodig. None in women.

I didn't hear what he said. But it seems a double standard to me that you would suggest the above as a possibly better script when Federer famously often only talks about himself in his wins. What he did and didn't do. You think that's ok for Roger, but not so for Ferrer? Or how about this: for all the times that Federer has come off as arrogant after a match, maybe we give them both the benefit of the doubt and say they were hot and tired, and might have been more generous, if they'd thought about it longer?

So combined w/ day 1 are we in double digits?

As I said many times, Fed was downright disrespectful against Berdych after his Wimbledon 2010 loss but he's righted the ship bigtime since then. What Ferrer said there was equally bad. And Federer doesn't always talk only about himself after he wins at all. He practically always comments on his opponent's performance.

Anyway, decide for yourselves when the full match is online later today or tomorrow why Mannarino won set 2.

I doubt it. Day 1 was a nice day.
But we had some injury retirements right?

You are right. There are 3 retirements in Day 1.

So, running total now is 10, the double digit mark you mentioned.

and this 10 does not include the withdrawal of Kohlschrbrier.

Actually, I'm afraid it will always be exactly the same.

Robredo finally breaks Benneteau in a long long service game to put them back on serve in the 4th. That may break Julian's will, and push Tommy up for the set.

Dog is out. Lead in the 4th set breaker and gave all the points back. Chardy will meet Ferrer next.
