Mannarino is playing the best I've seen him play. Doing well against Ferrer. Triple set point now for the 2nd set.

Ferret loses the 2nd set to Mannarino. Huh?

Watched the last few games and Mannarino is playing really well. Staying with him in rallies and making some great returns.

Youzhny out, Dodig retired. Anyone keeping track of the retirements? Looking more and more like it is going to be the survival of the fittest, no?

In day 2, it is 4 men and 1 women.

Think he has the overall fitness to stay competitive with David in a best of 5? In this heat?

Nope. Looking a bit weary now :(

After being down 0-40 and getting back to deuce with an amazing 2nd serve ace, Mannarino is now down 0-3 in the 3rd set :(

Yea, but Ferrer is up 3-0 in the 3rd. I'd say hiccup, or hail Mary.

Mannarino is about to sample the local bread now. He's literally toast.

After a TB first set, winning the 2nd 7-5, Mannarino munches a 3rd set bagel. Doh. Probably won't do much better in set 4. Looks tired.

Complete muppet dropshot there by Janowicz. That thing sat up in the air so high it was begging to be whacked silly, which it was. He was up 5-2 and now 5-5.

Just reading on twitter that there is a lot of speculation in the press room at the AO as Tomic has called a press conference. About 20 mins or so.

Interesting, what do you think it's about?

"I had scans this morning which confirmed that I tore my groin. If I played on it it could have been much worse. I got booed, pretty unfair. I think it's important to tell people this ... people paid a lot of money."

Yep, wasn't really worth the suspense. Sorry guys.

I really feel bad for him. It's unfortunate. But...and I really don't meant to sound inconsiderate when I ask this: was this really worth a press conference?

Yes. They're in Australia, and he's the great Aussie hope. (For what it's worth.)

What a rant by P Mac!!!!'
