"I had scans this morning which confirmed that I tore my groin. If I played on it it could have been much worse. I got booed, pretty unfair. I think it's important to tell people this ... people paid a lot of money."
Yep, wasn't really worth the suspense. Sorry guys.
I really feel bad for him. It's unfortunate. But...and I really don't meant to sound inconsiderate when I ask this: was this really worth a press conference?
Yes. They're in Australia, and he's the great Aussie hope. (For what it's worth.)
What a rant by P Mac!!!!'
About? And what did he say?
About Tomic. This is what he said almost Verbatim:
He started out by saying Tomic reminds him a lot of Hewitt when he was younger although Lleyton was at a higher level. He talked about the warm up in Sydney, was he really injured there. He's an under-achiever, he hasn't dotted every I, crossed every T off-court w/ his training, fitness and his team. He has a lot of chaos around him and it's catching up to him.
There's more:
If you injure yourself in the middle of a match you should pull out as he did, but the public doesn't have a alot trust in what he does and that's why he got booed.
Then Chrissie tried to put some water on the fire by saying she hopes he works things out and that he can't do it alone he needs to surround himself w/ good people.
Just when you thought it was over:
P-Mac goes on about the two Aussie young guns coming up that might steal his limelight and endorsements. It could be the best thing for Bernie. He keeps hearing Tomic say he's young. Your not that young buddy, you're 21-22 and it's difficult to make that move (unless you're a Nadal, Djokovic or a freak at 18-19) to challenge the big boys.
