10 seeded Danielle Collins, 2022 runners-up is through in three sets she prevailed against rising australian Destanee Aiava. But the crowds was booing and jeering her in the third (which was what was shown here tonight on Channel 9).

What happened ???

I'm in shock !!!

After the match she very sarcastic-like was blowing kisses to the partisan crowd (put it mildly) and even tapped her butt (as if to say, "Kiss my.... " well you know).

Did the match get shown in full over there in the USA?

What did she do to fire up the crowd?
Play an Australian...

I'm watching my fellow Dane playing Sabalenka. For now it's the game of serving breaks...none of them seem's able to hold their serve...

Clara had the lead many times in the 1st set. You have to close the deal on Saba or she will rise from the ashes. She makes a really good living doing it everyday

My gut tells me this will be it for Danielle if she makes a deep run at the Australian Open, like in 2022. I think Danielle is playing because she wants to end her career on her terms and on a more positive note. She would have not had that with a half-baked try at the US Open, when she was clearly not healthy.
I don't agree it's the only reason. She does want to end things on her own terms, but she was dealt a serious blow to her reproductive wishes. It will be a harder road for her and cost much more than she planned. She wants to make sure she socks enough away when she actually starts the process.

AWWWWWWW, that's a shame. Lets hope the injury does not sideline Naomi for the 2025 season.

Osaka could hardly serve in the TB, she sustained the ab injury in a warm up tournament before the AO (Auckland) in the final where she had to retire

I watched Gauff v Fernandez, Gauff too many weapons for Fernandez, her weight of shot over powered Fernandez at times, Fernandez fought all match to no avail.
Gauff d Fernandez 64 62 will face Bencic for a spot in the QFs

Sounds like an excuse to me. Don't they practice in the evening conditions? She never made the adjustment through 2 sets of tennis? Top players don't make excuses, they make changes.

Jess committed too many UFE in the match, while Olga saved all 6BPs she faced, also had 28 winners, so the court could not be that slow:)

Swiatek (2) Paolini (4) Rybakina (6) Navarro (8) Kasatkina (9) Haddad Maia (15) Keys (19) should go through, Cristian, though her opponent LL Lys has had some good wins, she was called in, on the day Kalinskaya withdrew, though I think Cristian might have a bit more experience,

Of course they put Iga's match on RLA the same time as Emma's match on MCA............Honestly!
