Finished watching highlights of De Minaur v Raonic
Sad stuff,
Milos retires down 0-2 in the 3rd set.Played so well for 90 mins, hip problem
Saw parts of the match last night, the first set and half of the second. Sad news. You wonder whether Milos, a former Wimbledon runners-up, will announce his retirement because the hips problem has been on-going for a number of years.

Griekspoor (28) wins the 3rd set in a TB 76(3) stays alive for now
Safiullin leads 2 sets to 1

Milos who had been off the tour for soo long, quite frankly I was surprised on his return, he said he missed the tour and also newly married, I hope the hip injry is not too serious, though I felt he did the right thing in retiring.Lets see what tournaments he plans to play this year

Only looking at scores, but interesting that Arthur Cazaux (WC - France) is giving Djere a run for his money.

Such a shame! I enjoyed watching the game of Milos! He's precise w/ his serve and big FH running opponents from side to side w/ precision & power! It's what gave him a Masters' win over Rafa years ago! What a shame he broke down! :astonished-face: :fearful-face:  :angry-face:

French wild card Cazaux wins the 5th set 62, a child prodigy and his idol is Rafa Nadal, the reason why he plays tennis, I like him already:)

Moxie,
Your pick was correct Griekspoor won 75 in the 5th set, a marathon match, I thought Roman at first was going to win in SS, he ran our of puff, a learning curve how to pace yourself in 5 sets matches at GS. and probably more time in the gym

Nishioka is a shadow of himself. A lot of points to defend this week from reaching the last 16 in 2023
Rune 6-2 easily
I am still making up my mind if I like Holger 'sleeveless" :)
Nishoika plays a great 2nd set and wins 64
The heat has been a factor in this match, both players making UFE they would not usually make
Luthri Holger's coach keeps telling him to stay 'offensive'
5 games all 3rd set
Niskioka will now serve to force a TB for the 3rd set 5-6
TB for the 3rd set
Wonderful FH winner down the line from Rune and he wins the important 3rd set 76(3) Nishoika made too many ufe off his bhand

Jack Draper R/U in the final at Adelaide struggling in the heat, had the doctor and trainer out at one stage has come back in his match winning 3rd set 60
2 sets all now with Giron, going 5 sets
Good recovery from Draper winning 62 in the 5th set

Jack Draper notches a tough win over Giron. It was not his cleanest match.
Read my post above Draper struggled in the heat had the doctor and trainer out, after he won he went and threw up in one of the courtside boxes

Holger Rune finally through in 4 sets, heat again was a factor in this match from both players
When it mattered Holger had more shots and conviction in this match than Nishioka
Holger had 71 winners in his match and 55 UFE
Nishioka 32 Winners and 41 UFE

Thanasi is fighting back in his opener versus S. Ofner, he's levelled the match at 2 sets each. He's serving now at 2-3 in the fifth.
Go Thanasi !!! He's from adelaide, where its 7.30 pm here and it's been a hot and dry today.

He's won!!!

My godfather he's won in style!

The adelaide boy Thanasi Kokkinakis has fought back and just won an all-time gripper vs Austria's Sebastian Ofner in a fifth set tiebraker, 10-8. Just moments ago. Next up for Thanasi will be Grigo Dimitrov.

Did any of you see that exquisite defty drop-shot winner Thanasi hit when at 7-7 during the tie-breaker? Awesome moment.

The news of the day has to be the Carota Boys watching Sonego v Evans dressed as 'human beings' and not as vegetables :)

Round 1 completed
Jarry (18) and Bublik (31) were the 2 seeded players defeated.
From the comments from some of the players they liked the AO starting earlier on the Sunday and dont mind round 1 taking 3 days to be competed.
