yeah but they just won the Davis Cup ! And Janick's going to win a GS at some point this year, possibly the AO. But still I wanna see one of these aussie boys , either Alex or adelaide's own Thanasi - give a good account of themselves in their national championship.
I hope so, but I have to see it to believe it! How many times have we said the same about Zverev, Tsitsipas, Medvedev, & Thiem? Dom & Daniil got their lone Majors due to Novak being DQ'd at the USO and overwhelmed w/ the moment of a possible CYGS in another! Even then Dom was stetched to the limit by Sascha! This latest crop does look better though; obviously w/ Carlos winning 2 Majors, he's a proven commodity! We can only hope Jannik & Holger prove they're the real deal! I've almost given up hope on our American contingent of Fritz, Tiafoe, Paul, Korda, & Shelton! They might sneak thru a Masters or Major draw after Novak's gone, but we'll have to see! :face-with-head-bandage: :astonished-face: :fearful-face:

I cant see Arnaldi making any heads ways in this game with Alex it will be a straight sets win
Alex will give Arnaldi a bagel in the 2nd set oh my my young Italian lol! though it is his own fault, he should be returning up the middle of the court to Alex, cutting off his speed for starters

I have always like Thanasi, shame with all the injuries and illness that have kept him off the court for many years, he has a fine game especially on HC, de Minaur does well with the limited weapons he has. I dont want to upset you Vince I just find Alex annoying :)
i know what you mean. And to be honest, i'm not sure he has the power of shots and/or mental toughness in his game, the way Thanasi has. Alex's strength is that his moves around the court with such speed. But he's been on the circuit long enough. Time for Alex to fulfill the potential.

Getting to No 10 in the world this year is not bad for starters, though he has to have consistent results to stay in the Top 10

Who's Arnaldi? The way this match is going, is about what you'd expect. Alex has been on the tour long enough and has plenty of best of five grand slam experiences. Time for this boy to step up and fullfill his potential.

Matteo has a good game he likes to be aggressive, has a great fh, though he needs more control, needs to be more patient in a tennis match

By the way, i was very disappointed to read the other Matteo Berettinni had to withdraw. Seems that he's going backwards since he fell sick with co-vid 19. Just hasn't quite been the same again.

Also injury he went over on his ankle at the USO in 2023 and had to have a wheel chair off the court. Then after rehab he started this year and picked up an injury in practice., foot injury, quite frankly he hasnt been healthy since 2021 when he made the Wimbledon final

I cant watch this match anymore, De Minaur already leads 3-0 3rd set, he will probably hand out another bagel to Matteo, Matteo has not a clue how to handle De Minaur, I will go and watch a womens match instead

I have to 'mute' Jim Courier, he has been commentating at the AO for too long we need to hear new voices and be more objective about players he is soo bias at times with his fav players,
yes my setiments exactly. He does rave on. He's very good commetator on the one level but why can't he and a few more who i won't name, just not commentate after every single point? Also another annoying feature, not only by Jim , is the over-use of "deceleration", a really big word that's become the norm in tennis broadcasting  It just never existed 20-30 years ago by past tennis callers.

And he's gone. So I was one round early in predicting his demise.

He is lucky to even reach R2, because Coric was not able to seize the opportunity. Both seem to be lost in space at the moment.

"Its not the way. It's not the style. It's the grind and the hunger"
Tsitsipas after his win over Aussie Jordan Thompson.
I am still out with this new 'step up' serve Stef is suddenly using, he is still grinding it out.

Ben Shelton should have won in straight sets over Aussie Chris O'Connell, lack of focus and trying to be a 'showman on court', with some high risk shots is not the way Ben. Ben plays Frenchman Mannarino next.
