I cannot get into Hubi's tennis at all also he needs to find a personality
Zverev's tennis puts me to sleep
Even though Meddy lost his serve and his mind in the 3rd set, he should have won in SS, I would not right him off, also he is good for tennis he was showing Jim Courier why he stands so far back to return serve lol! I love his personality.
I would like to give a 'shout out' to French WC Cazauz even though he lost to the Boring Pole, he gave his best, well done and you deserved your WC!

Just finished watching highlights of Charly's match, I watched the 1st set and decided I was 'tennised out' for the day
Charly had no trouble in his match, as John Mac said who was on his match, 'he has never seen such a complete player at his age' agree Mac he is a pleasure to watch,
Jim Courier asked Charly on court after the match, "What was working for you tonight"
Alcaraz replied " I think, everything' he replied with a smile.
Charly 41 winner UFE 19 and no BPs faced.

Looks pretty much like we are going to see first 4 seeds in the semis. But if you had to choose which higher seed will lose his QF match, who would you pick?

Who has a highest chance of making an upset? Bookies set up the odds. They say Novak has a highest chance of reaching SF. Followed by Alcaraz and Sinner who get similar odds for winning. They give Meddy lowest chances, but still good probability to win his match.

Will there be an upset, what do you think?
I don't think there will be. Medvedev has a tricky opponent, and I agree that maybe he's looked shakier, but he often kind looks edgy out there and comes good. I thought Novak looked like he could be upset until the last round, and I thought Carlos had yet to play his best until last night. Sinner, but contrast, had his bad day the last round, and STILL got out of it in straights.

I disagree with you regarding Sinner, he raised his game when needed, and saved all his BPs, KK was playing at a good level, Sinner's win to me was 'business like' and he still won in straight sets, as yet has not lost a set, which puts him in a good place physically when he will need it for QFs, probably a match he needed going forward.
Charly was 'on song' last night
Meddy will be more focused for his next match

I'm not saying that Jannik played poorly. Basically we agree. My point was rather that he got a nervy, scratchy performance out of his system. It wasn't the best he's played in Oz, but, as you say, raised the level when needed. I'm all in with Sinner, unless Carlos can keep up the level he played last night.

Agree, as I said to you it was probably a game Sinner needed going forward, Carlos was just a delight to watch last night, he has the all round game to win the title at the AO.

BTW the 'so called security which our friend Craig Tiley said would be in full force this year at the AO came undone last night at the match between Zverev and Norrie when a masked man started shouting out and then scattered leaflets on the court he was a pro Palestine protester, it took members of the public to control the man before security came,, ball kids were left to pick up the leaflets on court, after that the match continued.

Rohan Bopanna assured of a career high ranking of world No 2 at the tender age of 43, after reaching the QFs in doubles with partner Aussie Matt Ebden, a win in the QFs will take him to world No 1!
If Bopanna happens to win the tournament he'll be the oldest person to ever win a GS.

Just a warning from Medvedev,

" If your drop shot isn't perfect, I'm going to win the tournament".....:)

let's have a look at the match stats Eurosports on Zverev vs Norrie. A couple of drop shots in that 5th set tiebreaker was costly for the Brit, but by the same token, he hit some exquisite drop shot winners that took him there...

Vince,
Cam Norrie's game has improved, it was a close match, in the 5th set, he nearly got over the line.

I would've thought Carlos was going to be your man in the absense of Rafa!

yes that was fun game to watch, but he went to the well one too many times with those drop shots i thought. Risky when your in the tie-breaker. He never won a set vs Zverev before yesterday, losing 4 times all in best of three.

LOL just three more 5 setters needed and we will have a new record on number of Five setters in Grand-Slams! The 1969 Wimbledon, 1983 and 2004 US Opens , each with 34. 2024 Australian Open is on 32. Can it happen ?

I usually dont watch Zverev's match unless he is playing against one of my fav players, his tennis puts me to sleep, though I must say the 5th set was absorbing and it was anyone's game.

Anyone watch the men's? Sinner won in straights, I see, but as I'm watching some of the replay, there appears to be an ab issue?

Also, I did see the first 2 sets+ of Novak. He was having a poor serving day, for the most part, and went 0/15 before he finally broke Fritz. Fritz was better in the first, but Novak pulled a Djokovic in the TB, then played a quick poor game to lose serve in the 2nd, and that proved enough. Then I basically had to go back to bed, but I see Novak got it done in 4. It's the 2nd set he's been dropping, it seems, this tournament.

Good morning Moxie. Jannik played well. Played the key points really well and never let Andrey into the match. Hopefully with the ab it was just a strain and no tear. The two guys were crushing the ball.

Your 2nd set observation. By now one would think that Novak would not be playing under any pressure. But the guy is driven. Rather than relaxing and enjoying himself, he’s trying to get through as quickly as he can knowing he’s going to. be facing Sinner and Alcaraz. He stresses out, messes up, and then slips into passive play. Everything becomes an issue…. the heat… the crowd. The 2nd set is where he seems to lose his :pile-of-poo: and then regroups. It’s not pretty and it’s no fun to watch

At this point, I think Jannik will be playing in the finals. He’s been the best player all tournament and barring any real pushback from Zverev and Medi, he will be facing Carlos in the final.

Jannik Forza first Moxie:)

If it was a pulled ab muscle it would have affected his serve,, for the whole match, which it didnt,, probably a slight strain, again a pleasing result I was not worried Jannik playing Rublev, I thought he could do it in straight sets, happy with result.BTW his serve wasnt broken at all in this match, his serve has been broken twice so far in this tournament
Something that is in his favor he gets 2 days off, not like that horrid scheduling at the Paris Masters last year when he played a night match and had to withdraw. the next day, as he didnt have time to recuperate
