Double break for Federer, with a lot of help from Thiem.

Thiem is playing like Kei from Sunday; the true determinant of his match with Fed but for the UFE's! He's missing open courts and too many 1st serves! Even though Roger's up a break, Thiem obviously gave it to him and's trying to give another! This is tragic play for the so called best! :nono:
K Nishikori was just as bad today.

I believe Kandy has already qualified by virtue of his two wins in straight sets (and as all others have lost at least one match already).

Fed takes the first set 6-2.

"A GIFT!" Thiem's pathetic and will end up being the other kind of goat! He'll probably lose all 3 of his matches! He's done looking this bad vs the old man! Fed's doing nothing to impress me; just rampant errors and gross incompetence by his opponent is helping him out!

Federer served better today. He was tentative for most of the first set, but his second set was decent, especially the last few games. It is ironic that he played better in the second set, because the first set score is more lopsided.

He served decently in last match too(though improved here)
The most important improvement was returning more serves.failed to return around 50% last match

I am guessing Roger still has to win against Mr Anderson to go through, correct, since he lost to Kei , even if Kei loses to Dom?

If Kei loses to Thiem Roger can lose and still qualify since Thiem,Nishikori and Federer will all finish with 1-2 RR records

3. In three-players-ties, percentage of sets won, then percentage of games won, then head-to-head records

This is why I don't think Fed will make it to the SF! Losing in "straights" Sunday was the worst that could happen for him! :nono:

Yea I think Fed can pack his bags cause Thiem isn't going to win even a set and Fed isn't going to beat Kandy in straight sets. It's sad because Fed is the WTF GOAT and this maybe his last WTF.

Thiem and Kei both suck and so it is hard to say what will happen when they play each other.

I don't think Fed has played Anderson after the Wimbledon disaster. So, one thing we can be sure is
that Fed won't be taking him for granted. I did not see the match today and so I don't know how his play is.
Based on the comments here, I assume he has not improved and mostly won due to Thiem sucking.
If that be the case, he may lose against Kandy.
