You know what, after acting as a perennial disappointment, bordering on a bit of a laughing stock this year, Gasquet suddenly has a serious shot at this title. A Pospisil/Giraldo semi final is one that he *should* (but it's Gasquet...) win, and then wham, suddenly you're one win away from an ATP 500 title, which would be the biggest tournament win of his career so far.

Mr Milos will certainly be fancying his chances too.

Now that Vasek won a match he probably was expected to lose, I'm curious to see how he does in a match he should (?) win. Of the remaining players, he is the one I would most like to see win. There's something about his game I really enjoy watching.

Seems like a good guy with his feet on the ground, does Vasek, and on a surface that isn't clay, he probably should be beating Santiago Giraldo... A wonky start sees him hold from break point down...

Giraldo has his best season as well of his career and he never looked to me to be uncomfortable on HC either, unlike many South Americans. I am curious if Vasek can keep the momentum from last night.

Not a good TB by Vasek and Giraldo gets the lead 1-0

Popsicle will be forced to go the long way round this obstacle then, while Santi (who, shockingly, doesn't have a mug shot on the official live scores app) continues to impress this year. Fascinating battle, don't think I have the grapes to stay up and see it out though, its half 3 in the morning for me :(

I got there late but was right time to catch Vasek vs. Santiago, boy what a strange match.
The first set started with a foot-fault by Vasek and almost ended by a foot-fault by Santiego, in between, there were multiple challenges that made Santiago run out of them by the time it was 4-4 in the set. I was surprised by off-speed serves by Santiago, he has Vasek guessing the entire first set with those serves, he would serve 100 mph serves mixed by 120 MPH offerings, it took a while for Vasek to get used to them...
By the time Vasek won the second set, it started raining, so the match was called off until tomorrow.
Look for the pictures in the blog.

I did get to attend Kei's after match press conference, he was asked twice if he was injured which he replied that he is OKAY! He did admit that Richard was better than him today. I asked him if he will come back next year, first he said for sure then changed it to may be but gave us the normal answer that he loves to play here and so on...
I saw Gasquet play against Sela, he seems to be the best one out there, he does have a good shot.

Here is the order of play:

OP-(26).jpg

The start time was changed to 11:45 am with the uncompleted match to be played after the doubles match scheduled at the beginning.
I am planning to be there the entire day.

The Tennis Donald is up 4-1 in the deciding set.

Are you at the site?

I am going in for a full day of coverage today, I don't have a laptop so I can't reply from the grounds, I can check your request via my smart phone..
I will be attending a couple of after match press interviews. If you have any questions to be asked, I shall consider.

The first doubles semi already started.

A very impressive match laid down by Milos (as far as his own service games).
6-4, 7-5.
This will be his first final this year.
DY did not play bad at all, he will be returning into the top 50 for this week, after 2 years.
:clap

Milos takes the second as well and moves on to the final. Can Vasek join him?

I certainly hope so. Let's make this a Canadian affair
