I would never write off Serena Williams,do that at your own peril.Serena is a player that can switch 'on' so easily,I have seen that even when she has been down in a match.I for one, won't be writing her off at this year's Australian Open. The draw will be most interesting.

I would love to see Serena win number 19, but I don't think it will happen. She is out of sorts, possibly due to a split with her hitter. That bodes badly for her.

That's an assumption. I wouldn't base an opinion on something you don't even know is a fact.

Where is there word that they split? As far as I was aware, they were joining her in Australia this coming week. I don't think Sascha is packing it in until Serena packs it in because those two have so much history together.

I know Serena can be out of sorts when some or all of her team isn't present at times. She used to have issues when her dad wasn't at her matches at times.

Is Ana injured? She took a MTO in the Brisbane final. If healthy, I am picking Ana to win AO.

When I was doing the match call between Maria and Ana,then Ana went off court for her MTO,one of the commentator's said she had been complaining in her previous match of 'being sore'? though they werent very specific about it,watching Ana after she came back on court,to me she looked okay and still competed well in the match

She really nailed some big serves in the Brisbane final. Yeah I would like to see Ana win at the Australian.
Bring it on

As much as I like Ana, I think she is going to need some people to get out of the way for her to really take a major. She has been coming on strong, but at the big stages of the bigger tournaments always falls short.

^ Meaning, they would fall on Maria's side? I don't know how much better that is for them. For Caro, I could see her being confident in having a chance, but after a couple of victories last year, Ana has fallen back into the non-belief category of winning against Sharapova.

 Don't get the last sentence. They've had close matches and the Brisbane final could have gone the other way.

That is her point she gets to the brink and still comes out on the losing side of things especially in the matches that matter.

Aren't you forgetting that she won the RG in 2008

Hmmmm I guess kskate2 and Sundaymorningguy aren't Ivanovic fans and have little faith in her fighting qualities. Shame.

Ana had her chances in the final against Maria at Brisbane International,I did the match call.Ana's down fall at present is that she dosent play the 'big points well enough',also she tends to get down on herself in matches.

Three days until the draw is released. Hoping Serena avoids Cornet, Vika, and Woz. All of them on Pova's half would be great.

Hey Fashionista, Agreed that may have been the issue in the past, however, you can't base that on her first competitive tournament in 2015.

Ana does not have that killer instinct. Very few do. If she did, she would win more often.

Say have any of you heard about Caroline's wrist injury, where she was forced to default her Opening round match in Sydney? Will she play in Melbourne ?

 I don't know how a player gets to win a GS without having 'killer instict'. Was it a fluke then?

Ana hasn't been to a slam semi-final since her RG win, so please explain this killer instinct she has. It is like she won a slam and forgot how to play the game. She has taken the best part of 6 years to finally start righting that ship. I like Ana as much as the next person, but still until she starts making it to the semis and finals of a slam or say Miami, Madrid, etc. on a consistent basis, well....

Sorry she had enough BPs against Maria? BPS are one of the most important stats in our game,it points to how well the player is actually playing in most instances

Playing the big points,eg having BPS and converting them, that's what Champion players do.
