It's TIME for a new face to win the AO at this years Ladies singles competition - the kind of player that would go on to usher in a fine new era for Women's Tennis. :clap

Well going on what I saw from Petra in her finals match, which she won in Sydney, she still has work to do,she seem to lose focus at times when she was in a commanding position, her serve in the 2nd set t/break saved her in ways, she was leading 5-1 in the 2nd set t/break and let Karolina back into the t/breaker with silly ufe.I have not had a good chance to look at Petra's draw for the AO as yet, still I have my reservations with Petra this year at the AO.Karolina really took her game to Petra.

Well, I finally cast my vote and yes, Serena is my choice. I make this choice with my heart and not my head. Based on what I have seen so far, Serena is not playing at her best. That said .........

I voted with my head and picked Pova because she has an easy path. I am hoping Safarova takes her out in the quarters to make up for that match point she had against Li, which was shown numerous times.

Im a bit surprised to see Tennis.com picked Sharapova. Then again they picked her so many times after her shoulder surgery. It's not that I don't think she has the goods to win another slam other than RG... I just think it's a tall order for her even with this draw.

For those wondering, Sascha, Serena's hitting partner, is out with an injury which is why we haven't seen him in her camp lately. So, I can imagine Serena is out of sorts not having the one person she depends on in practice sessions with her.

I went through the draw and could not find anyone in her path who could beat her. Safarova and Ana have a slight chance. Unless Pova meets Serena in the final, she takes the title, in my opinion. All of what I say is based on statistics. Someone can play the match of her life and beat her, or Pova can beat herself with 15 plus double faults. But on an average day, she should win if Serena falters.

Sunday, thanks for posting that piece of news. Her fans were wondering where he is. I wish him a speedy recovery, and hope Serena can overcome this setback. This development and the tough draw are concerning.

I don't know if I would call it a setback perse, but I know he can get through to her sometimes where others can't. This is one of those moments that will test her resolve again when the situation is less than ideal.

The big thing for Serena is moving her feet. She moved like a woman who looked reluctant to move because she ate ten pizzas at Hopman Cup.

Are you serious? Sharpova was beaten by the following players JUST at Australian Open:
2014: Cibulkova 20
2013 Li Na 6
2012: Victoria Azarenka 3
2011: Petkovic 30
2010: Kirilenko Unseeded

Just since she won she has been beaten by players outside the top 10 seeds 3 out of 5 times. If anything the most dangerous players for Sharapova are low seeds. I seriously cannot remember the last time she won a slam she was expected to win.

Well if Sharapova does win the Australian Open in 2015....it will be the first time a Brisbane title holder has gone onto win it.

Personally I would take Kvitova over Sharapova to win the AO in 2015,if my pick Serena Williams does not win it.

Who exactly can beat Pova? She had horrible stats and still beat Ana. Maybe Pliskova? Why would anyone pick Petra over Pova? Of course, Petra has the game to beat her, but is she likely to remain mentally tough enough? Probably not.

I wouldn't sell Halep short. Her win over Serena should give her confidence. Let's see if she actually believes she can beat Maria now.

Halep has had chances against Maria before in their matches and could not convert, she has the correct game plan against Maria as we all saw at RG,the question is she has to keep that game plan up and not divert away from it.

I hope Petra learnt a lot from their last match up on a HC,Petra was directing her shots down the middle too much in that 1st set, right into Maria's strike zone.

What a difference in the match when Petra used angled wide fhands to Maria's fhand wing, she got the error,Maria's defense on her fhand wing is her weaker error.

Petra has the game to defeat Maria, she just has to keep with her game plan and like Halep not divert away from it.Also ROS game, especially as Maria is prone to d/fault.
