I am rooting for Vekic to medal. Her fight during this event has been impressive. She is not the most athletic tennis player out there, and her run at Wimbledon definitely gave her a lot of confidence and belief that she can reach those lofty heights.
We are on the same page Tossip she is a fighter and I hope she can defeat Schmiedlova, who has been the surprise packet so far at the Olympics, I mean where has her form been? she hardly get wins at WTA250 level, though she defeated Jazz and Krejicjkova?

Maybe Vekic although her mentor is Pam Shiver she really moves a little bit better than Lindsey Davenport.. Somehow she gets it done on the court.

I am not surprised Iga lost her last 2 matches she was lucky to win
Today in her match and on her 'surface' where she has won GS titles was the worst I have seen her play, too many UFE for starters, which was highly unusual for Iga, 37 UFE???. this is Iga's first loss at RG since 2021
All credit to Zheng, she has been playing good tennis in Paris this week and deserved her victory
Seeing that Iga had a H2H of 6-0 over Zheng, this is Zheng's first win and she did it in SS 62 75!
Swiatek will return tomorrow to play for the Bronze medal
Zheng will play for the Gold Medal

She looked tired and had no off day.She usually wins in springtime conditions, and now it's scorching hot with a lot of humidity.I have never seen her sweating like that and just listless and clueless.

Apart from that Tossip she was lucky to win her 2 previous matches, I feel she put too much pressure on herself by wanting to win a Gold Medal, it is her best surface, though goes to show anyone, on any given day if you 'dont turn up to play, you can get beaten and that is what happened today in her match against Zheng who deserved to win, I mean Iga was up 4-0 in the 2nd set? and let that lead slip.

She really pissed off the Banshee who drilled Iga when she was at the net. I think Collins had some words for her afterwards their match and said that Iga was not honest about having empathy about her abs injury.
Come on I watch that match okay, I like Collins though she can be a Bitch at times? she directed a ball hard at the abs of Iga which stopped Iga full stop, Iga did say she was sorry about Collins retiring at the net, she said she was insincere? please dont make me laugh
Also Collins retired hurt in her match trailing 1-4 and then went later to play doubles and lost? so Collins injury wasnt all that bad after all??
Some of the American ladies and their outbursts and bitchy comments at these Olympics has been 'woeful' to say the least and their Captain needs to tell them to Pull Their Heads In and play tennis, half of these bitchy comments have come from being Bad Losers!
Coco had another meltdown in her match against Vekic, as she called the Umpire Supervisor to the court, she did not like the overrule and when they replayed the point on video the Umpire was correct, I like Coco she needs to learn to let things go, her concentration level dipped, she was already in trouble in that match as Vekic won in SS and was the better player

Donna with a lead. I hope she makes this match a smooth sailing. Yesterday was a thriller and we don't need another one.

Indeed Don I was pacing up and down my hall way at times, reminds me of times I did the same watching Rafa :)

Now a double break. Donna is feeling the ball really well and Schmiedlova just can't keep up with the pace.
