Some of the Womens seeds defeated today in Paris,
Gauff, Paolini, Sakkari, Fernandez and Navarro, and Elina Svitolina unseeded lost.

BTW Only one Top 5 left in the draw Iga Swiatek

Gauff had a good draw, her fhand in the 2nd set against Vekic was all over the place. Gilbert has to work on it ASAP as she is the defending champion at the USO and frankly it has 'Not Improved' under his coaching. Jess and Coco are still in the doubles
Only 1 American player through in the singles Danielle Rose Collins, still having a great season, seeing she will be retiring at the end of the year

Just tuning into the Swiatek v Wang match, after Rafa/Carlos won their doubles match, a day on the womens side where top seeds lost
Iga won the 1st set 63
Poor service game from Iga broken 4 games all 2nd set
Iga breaks again and will serve for the match 5-4
Swiatek d Wang 63 64 she was made to work for the victory!

Siniakova and Machac engaged, have apparently split though they are still playing mixed doubles.

Match between Kerber and Zheng going into a TB for 3rd set and the match, it has been one terrific battle from each player
Zheng leading 5-3 in TB Angie fights back to make it 6 all, Angie defense has been one of the highlights of this match
A great match sad to say Kerber lost in a 3 set match, she saved 3 MPs, Zheng winning the TB 76(6), well played to both ladies
Zheng (6) d Kerber 67(4) 64 76(6)

Have a wonderful retirement Angie Kerber!
Former No 1 player
3 GS titles
Olympic Silver

Zheng will play the winner of Swiatek and Collins, Swiatek took the 1st set 61

Upset earlier as Krejcikova (9) lost to Schmiedlova who certainly has been the surprise packet of the Olympics so far, I dont know where her form has come from she has certainly found it in Paris, winning in straight sets 64 62.her last match defeated Jazz in straight sets

Danielle Rose Collins wins the 2nd set against Swiatek 62 we are going 3 sets now
Swiatek winning the 1st set 61
Sad to see Collins in her 1st and final Olympics forced to retire in the 3rd set 1-4, Collins had a MTO earlier in the 3rd set, tape over her abs.
Says to the Umpire " There's no way I can play like this"
Swaitek 61 16 4-1 will play Zheng next

Wow! It seems that you guys are about as interested in the women @ the Olympics as I am; NADA care! Elsewhere it seems as if Coco isn't getting much love for her petulant behavior! She can't take responsibility for losing a lead & making this all about one call in one point! That's so pathetic, but what's to be expected? She's following the Williams' playbook of being "the victim" with everyone against her! Truly pathetic! She's been overhyped for yrs. w/ plenty of her matches being featured on TV in singles & doubles! She's FOS and I love when she gets exposed! :face-with-hand-over-mouth::angry-face::astonished-face:

By accident I jumped into third set between Gauf and Vekic. Again an amateur match - again NOT the players - where a judge can't replay a point and there is no replay - why the f---k can't they play after modern rules in tennis - nah it's only me - luckily Vekic won as the best of the two -Coco had a sort of meltdown.

I have nothing for the pros who are world-wide famous & wealthy athletes! They don't need the Olympics except for vanity & I'll never change my mind on that! Other sports that have accepted rich pros into the Games should also be eliminated in Baseball, Hockey, Basketball, & Golf! :angry-face:

Collins injury which forced her to retire in the 3rd set against Swiatek 1-4, must not have been that bad as she played the doubles and lost with her partner Krawczyk in 3 sets

Oh Vekic serving for the match at 5-4 in the 3rd set broken and then broke back and then Kostyuk broke her in a TB for the 3rd set and the match
What a fighter Vekic is trailing 1-4 in the TB she fights back to win 76(8)
Vekic d Kostyuk 64 26 76(8)
Best match from Vekic so far in the Olympics

Croatian tennis community is going wild over Vekic. What a nerve wrecking match, but that's the thing with Croatians in any sport, easy is not our thing. You go insane just by watching it on a TV, somehow you get drawn and the next moment you are swearing a lot and telling the players what to do.

Anyway, glad for her really. Though she lacks charisma and seems too simple to say politely. Hope she can win against Schmiedlova who is peaking this week and secure the medal for our small country, because playing for the bronce can be tough and probably against Zheng, who looks at least more fit than Donna.

Donna crying after the match what a warrior she was deserves it and a medal Schmiedlova has come from now where her form of late is poor cant get far in a WTA250 match,
We all saw Donna''s great run at Wimbledon, we know she wont go down without a fight! playing for your country brings out the best in any player, you can kiss the rankings of players good bye, it dosent at times matter in Olympics, Fed Cup or DC

I am rooting for Vekic to medal. Her fight during this event has been impressive. She is not the most athletic tennis player out there, and her run at Wimbledon definitely gave her a lot of confidence and belief that she can reach those lofty heights.
