Yup. Some seriously lame people. Delighted he won to piss them off.A few days ago, some people: "Novak isn't the GOAT because he's never won Olympic Gold."
Soon to come, same people: "The Olympics are basically a lesser Masters and don't matter."
Maybe I can join him on the pension and finally retire. What a match and finally Novak has his Gold Medal well done!Novak can go straight to pension, he has absolutelty nothing to prove anymore.
I was silently hoping Novak can come sharp today and not bow down, which he did. Amazing performance.Yup. Some seriously lame people. Delighted he won to piss them off.
You and I discussed this yesterday about the 'mental attitude' a player can have all the shots in the world though if he dosent have 'the desire and the mental capacity to win, he/she wont win, Novak's focus and mental ability was on 'show' in this match and he came through and wonWhat a turnaround, after getting his butt kicked a few weeks ago. Not a single tournament won thia year and to win this final against the odds. Serbian slayer strikes again.
Novak's mental toughness and focus was top notch today. As if he knew he couldn't win it any other way, because Alcaraz was not giving anything either. It was a huge battle of the nerves. You and I discussed this yesterday about the 'mental attitude' a player can have all the shots in the world though if he dosent have 'the desire and the mental capacity to win, he/she wont win, Novak's focus and mental ability was on 'show' in this match and he came through and won
It was clear Djokovic and Zheng were both winning as the great Steve Tignor picked Alcaraz and Vekic. For Carlos 1st Olympic's a Silver Medal is quite an accomplishment, no doubt in the future he will have more chances of winning Olympic Gold medal
LOL! Fronty he also picked Sinner to win Wimbledon go figureIt was clear Djokovic and Zheng were both winning as the great Steve Tignor picked Alcaraz and Vekic.
MikeNot sure we can say novak has had a mental edge over carlos. At wimbledon, novak was not very strong mentally. He had chances to go up 2 sets to love in ‘23 and blew it by making uncharastetic error, then he went into a tailspin losing 3rd set 6-1. This year, he was fragile, far from djokovic we know.
Carlos played well but be doesn’t really have big advantages over djokovic when novak is playing well. It’s evenly matched. Carlos has a bit more touch and finishing power but djokovic is a bit more consistent, takes ball a bit earlier and hits deeper so he forces more errors. If you look at stats today, he forced many errors by having carlos under pressure.
Carlos made a bit more ufes but more winners but he played pretty well. This match was close…
This year he played Wimbledon barely a month after knee surgery. He's had a bit more recovery time now. While, his movement still doesn't look the best, his serve placement was the key today and his focus was razor sharp. Not sure we can say novak has had a mental edge over carlos.
