I get that, but I can't call a player ranked that high and with his credentials an upset winner. I generally don't consider something as a true upset unless they are at least 8 spots lower in the rankings.
Everyone has there own standards, I guess, but all the pundits picked Novak, and he has won the title 7 times or something, so, IMO, it does qualify as an upset.

With all the records that ESPN was showing about Djokovic's dominance at Wimbledon, it is still nothing compared to Nadal's dominance at RG.

Djokovic is 7-2 at Wimbledon Finals and 3 of them (including today) went to a 5th set.

Meanwhile, Nadal is 14-0 at RG Finals and NONE of them went to a 5th set! Just truly a remarkable stat!

Anyways, what a mental performance from Alcaraz especially after the 1st set AND being down 3-0 in the 2nd set tiebreaker.

No cramp today for Carlos, so a different result. Incredible how’s quickly this kid learns how to handle the big occasions. Great match, hand it to Novak, he might have squeaked it out if the youngster tightened up again. The first set was horrendous for Carlos but hugely impressed by him winning the second set tiebreak and stream rolling the old guy in the third. Tightened up again in the fourth but was again huge in winning the fifth.

He is massive for tennis. We need it to be competitive and we see clearly here the difference between a competitive final at a slam and what we’ve gotten used to. Tennis won today, big time!:clap::clap:

”Congratulations @carlosalcaraz . You have given us immense joy today and I am sure that our pioneer in Spanish tennis, Manolo Santana, has also been cheering wherever he is, such as Wimbledon whom you have joined today.
A very strong hug and enjoy the moment, Champion!!! “

FYI, I have a stat I play with called "Premier Event Points" which is my way of judging how good a player's year was. Carlos just surpassed his total from last year: he's at 28 now, vs. 25 for all of last year. And still about half the season to go.

To put that in context, 30 is a great year, 40 is about top 50 all-time. Only a handful of players have had 50 for a year: Laver (1969), Connors (1974), Borg (1979), McEnroe (1984), Lendl (1986), Roger (2004-07), Rafa (2008, 10, 13), Andy (2016), and Novak (2011-12, 2015-16). (Pete's best was 49).

I'm not expecting Carlos to reach 50 this year, but he's got a very good chance at 40, which is the equivalent of the best seasons of players like Edberg, Becker, and Agassi, all of whom maxed out in the 40-42 range.

That was boss level from Alcaraz. I'm so impressed. Particularly the way he started off pacing Novak in the 2nd set. I thought SW19 was going to be his toughest one. Novak better hope he doesn't see him in the final weekend again. The boy will be more confident next time

Brad Pitt looked younger than he did in once upon a time in Hollywood!

I think it's Djoke's parents that are the questionable ones of the clan. His wife has always shown class
He should follow her example more, then. Bashing his racket like that, no regard for the ball kids or anyone in the vicinity. Disgraceful but typical of him. Lousy example to kids…
