I think Mats Wilander had 4 at 20, before winning 3 more (and what turned out to be his final slams) in his career year of 1988.The mind reels if Carlos can retain the YE # 1 ranking for a second consecutive year at age 20.
So winning his 2nd Slam he ties Becker who won 2 by age 20, of course Borg had 3 at this age, but hey Carlos still has the USO and AO to tie or surpass that record.
Carlos wasnt the fav to win Wimbledon Novak was okay lolI think Mats Wilander had 4 at 20, before winning 3 more (and what turned out to be his final slams) in his career year of 1988.
303-5 overall at Slams (now 303-6).I don't know the stats, but Novak doesn't often lose when he wins the first set at a Major.
I honestly thought Novak was playing with such calm and confidence, and very within himself. That 21+ minute game took it out of him, and Carlos calming down and playing better unsettled him.Moxie
What was impressive was how Carlos rebounded from losing that 1st set
Thanks for that! Alcaraz is the only guy besides the Big 4 to win Wimbledon...since he was born.303-5 overall at Slams (now 303-6).
In finals, 15-3 (now 15-4).
His previous losses after winning the first set at a Slam were Rafa at 2014 RG, and Stan twice, 2015 RG and 2016 USO.
I have that, too. You can see how tall he is. His father, Juan Carlos, saw a lot of Rafa's wins when he was King.I have pictures of The King of Spain congratulating Carlos
Good one! LOL.Thanks for that! Alcaraz is the only guy besides the Big 4 to win Wimbledon...since he was born.
He’s like a millennial or something..You're so tiresome with your "hater" business. You really are a throw back to the old days, with your carpet tennis...
I get that, but I can't call a player ranked that high and with his credentials an upset winner. I generally don't consider something as a true upset unless they are at least 8 spots lower in the rankings.Carlos wasnt the fav to win Wimbledon Novak was okay lol
The first line says: A brilliant, gutsy performance....Gutsy is right.
