He can't spot Meddy 2 sets either. Even on grass I wouldn't discount the Russian.
Agreed I forgot about Meddy..he is the ONLY one besides Stan and the new young lion.. although I'm interested in seeing how Eubanks would fare vs the Great Serbian Slayer

I like the Ebony String Bean, but at the first time of asking against the Serb, I expect the scoreline would be 76 63 62 for the old guy

So this is what I don't get about Wimby. Knowing yesterday that today could be a washout, why not start play on the roof courts at 11am so they can squeeze in as much play as possible?
Wimbledon is maddening because for a hundred + year run tournament, with two roofed stadiums and a friggin long history of bad weather & rain delays, you would think they would have a full blown contingency plan for just such a situation. Two roofed stadiums.

But of course have a player wear half an inch too much fabric of another color than white and Wimbledon officials are on that to escort them off court and threaten them with expulsion.

Wimbledon tradition be hanged.

British weather is unpredictable. We get the same weather warnings in Ireland and ignore them…

At least they now have the two roofed stadiums. (I’m sure you remember the relentless rains in 2007.) It is supposed to be an outdoor tournament: should they cover every court?

I think not. They actually had the event on time most of the years where there was worse rain than we expect this year. 2001 was the memorable exception. They’ll catch up on todays matches fairly handy. I remember Rafa playing 4 matches in 5 days in New York in 2011. He was gassed in the final. It’s an outdoor event - rain is just one of the perks! It would be very costly and wasteful to put roofs on all the courts..

I don't think he's saying they should cover every court, but they should absolutely have a contingency plan and break tradition of just 3 matches on the main show courts to maximize use of the covered courts they do have.

At the AO we have 3 roofs, though I cannot remember the last time, the 3 roofs were closed and in action
I still think tarps/covers should be out on outside courts, when the weather forecast has predicated rain, like in London, they have those 'blowers' which is a great idea for drying especially on HC, not soo much for clay

I'm a little surprised they gave up on today so early. It was 5:30 when they cancelled play for today. It looks like the rain has been stopped for awhile.

As I posted before they did lift the covers off the outside courts and then the rain came back again lol! I am certain they have a weather map current and the officials can see where the rain is falling etc, I think they made the right decision, I also feel for the fans today, we cant control mother nature I am afraid
