To be fair, the only reason I “want” Kyrgios to win tomorrow is because of how close the slam title “race” is between Nadal and Djokovic. If the “race” is not that close at all, then I wouldn’t really care who wins the match.

I am curious to see on how Kyrgios will play on a big stage like this. One thing about Kyrgios is that he usually does gets up in these types of matches. Whether he wins or lose, he is competitive in these high stakes matches.
Even aside from the slam race, I want Kyrgios to win this. I think it would be an amazing triumph for him. He's been pegged as talented for so many years. He admits to his struggles with mental health and motivation. And for one of the few goddamned times for the Next Gen to get it over the old Gen, I wouldn't mind it being Kyrgios. He's in ways been the ballsiest of all of them. He's beaten the Big 3 more than everyone, I think, by which I mean Next Gen. Surely on the biggest stages. Margaret said he might retire if he wins tomorrow. Wouldn't it just be Nick to go out in a blaze of glory. Well, we'll see what happens.

Yup! I will say this: I am glad it is Kyrgios and not Tsitsipas and/or Zverev. Because we all know how other two players will play in a final.

I do wish it was Medvedev in the final against Djokovic.

Really? I am actually glad it's Kyrgios. Medvedev is better than the other "clown princes," but not by a lot. It might have been a great final, or not. I think the best chance for a barn-burner of a final is still Kyrgios, given that Nadal stopped being an option. But the best final would have been Nadal v. Djokovic, let's not forget.

Obviously, Nadal vs Djokovic would have been the best final.

I am just talking about the potential Djokovic losing the final. While Nick has the potential to beat Djokovic, it can also be a 3 set match for Djokovic.

At least Medvedev and Nadal will make Djokovic work for it.

What nonaensical
Personally i couldn't give a stuff about either of the ladies and mens finals and for the first time since 1979 (when i started watching) I won't bother to watch the two matches. KYRGIOS and DJOKOVIC would have to be the two worst ambassadors in tennis today. And Wimbledon this year has been a total embarrassment with the two Russians disallowed, which was wrong move, Federer, Zverev, Berrettini , Cilic not able to play and Ash Barty's retirement was a huge blow to the sport.

I'll see you all in the U.S. Open time. For those who going to watch, enjoy the final
What a sad and may i say pathetic take..

kyrgios is entertaining… do you think john mcenroe was bad for tennis? That’s nick, today.. mcenroe was awefully disrespectful towards the umpires and even crowd at times but he was good for tennis

djikovic is an all time great and it is so pathetic for fed and nadal fans to scoop down to this level of calling bad for tennis. He’s a model sportsman who has only achieved record weeks at number 1, won 20 slams by being incredibly disciplined, professional, dedicated… any junior can learn to be like djokovic and not others like nalbandian who never had the work ethic.. or marcelo rios… the whole covid vaccine issue says more about the people who cannot respect his decision, no-one should be forced to take a vaccine and if people can’t respect his decision and want to cast him as a villain for it, that says alot about the hypocrisy of those calling him out, those people need to look at themselves in the mirror first and evaluate themselves first, chances are djokovic has more character, integrity, discipline, work ethic than the trolls who want to put him down

Just to be clear, regarding Nick telling a reporter yesterday he might retire if he wins Wimbledon,
I have known Nick from his junior days, he does tend to talk 'off the cuff' so to speak, he also loves to give reporters 'news' if you know what I mean
I still take what Nick said to that reporter with a ' grain of salt'.

Mike, so what happened to you when Nadal beat Djokovic at RG and Nadal won Roland Garros?

If Kyrgios isn't overwhelmed by the occasion and is playing freely then I think he should win. The only issue is that he has played only one match on Center Court so I wonder if he will find the surface too slow. Otherwise I haven't been impressed by Djokovic's level at all and found that Sinner & Norrie were outplaying him but choked mentally as soon as they thought they had a chance to win. Of course Djokovic noticed that and took advantage.

LOL

kyrgios should win? Against 6 time wimbledon champion or did you mean that was your wish?

norrie choked? You mean just as medvedev choked vs rafa in AO final and fritz choked against an injured rafa in semis? How did fritz choke so bad? Ahhh of course, rafa just raised bis level right? But you won’t ever say that about djokovic… perhaps you should listen to norrie himself in his post match interview where he said djokovic started nervous and then raised his level… it’s clear norrie is right, novak lost more points on 1st serve in 1st set than last 3 sets! Novak clearly raised his game and norrie simply doesn’t have the tools to beat novak when novak plays close to his best

Many have retired just after Wimbledon regardless if they win or not! OTTH, BJK retired the 1st time after '75 triumph over Goolagong! Graf won the FO, then retired after Wimbledon final loss to Davenporte in '99 asking to be taken off the computer! Marion Bartoli threw everyone for a loop when she won then retired after Wimbledon in 2013! :astonished-face: :fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::face-with-tears-of-joy:

Excited for this match. Djokovic is my favorite player and i love watching nick. I have to say i also much enjoy the trolls who can’t stand nick and won’t get sleep tonight worrying about djokovic maybe getting #21

nick and novak and the anti-woke ‘real’ guys. I’ve seen nick practice and he’s the coolest guy, he regyalrly picks random ball boys to hit with him, entertains the crowd and talks to people, makes crowd part of the show. He’s ‘real’ unlike the uptight robots who you see un TV acting like angels but in real life are jerks and wouldn’t connect with regular people as nick does. Nick plays a role on TV and it works.. when you go to tournaments, he’s the attraction… he entertains.

Novak is one of the coolest guys, of the big 3 he’s the one who most genuinly seems happy for opponents when they beat him, nadal and roger seem always angry.. he also shows some emotion, he’s human… but make no mistake, the guy is a model sportsman who has achieved what he has achieved due to being incredibly disciplined, having character and work ethic. Most of the people who attack him don’t half the discipline, work ethic, character and integrity djokovic has.

as far the match, i want djokovic to win but if nick wins that would be fine. Kyrgios is good for tennis, we need real, flawed humans on the tour and not bots who show a persona on screen but are fake. Nick fills stadiums and even just watching him practice, as i have, is a show.. he entertains. He has so much talent… fun to watch.

nick can win but this is not 2017 where nick beat a djokovic who struggled that year (even lost to istomic at ao and played half the year). Nick will have to play well and keep his concentration snd handle adversity. Novak can have a bad day but if he plays well, nick will need to use all his tools and keep his cool

Doubles champion in AO, now potentially singles champion at Wimbledon, then retires? Barty did, so maybe it’s an Aussie thing? ;)
It’s goes against everything all-time greats such as the Big 3 and Serena have stood for.

Like I said the other day, "A.B.N.!" I can live with a Nick win, but I'm hoping Novak can cut major race to one again! I'm gonna be greedy afterall! :lol6:

Hey I disagree, it is not a Aussie thing, coincidence maybe, in Bartys case she for-filled her dream and went out on her own terms, a lot of players cannot do that.
As I said before I take what Nick says with a grain of salt

What did you feel when Nadal beat Djokovic at RG, Mike? I remembered you asked Nadal fans if we were ready to face our nightmares…

Was a good match vs rafa at RG, rafa will always have edge on clay though. Rafa has always been one my favourite players, it’s his fans who have become unbearable.. their hate for djokovic..it’s unreal. Now nick is their hero.. lol their white knight on sunday. I think novak was overconfident too as rafa now has the habit of talking about how ‘hubbled’ he is. In the press conferences he kept acting as if he has problems.. worried face an all.. then he comes out and runs like a rabbit.. and cheetah. Casper rudd apparently played a hubbled rafa and how did that go for him..

i’ve seen nick practice in person, one of the coolest guys.. he was regularly talking to crowd snd opted to practice with a juniorX which apparently he does a lot. He acts like a regular dude… not some untouchable ‘superstar’ and yet he’s the main attraction where he goes, people just wanted to see him play

The truth? I enjoyed the match… rafa is my second favorite player so not really losing sleep over it. It his fans, boy.. they have become almost as bad as fed fans.. during fed’s prime, they way they hated rafa.. now it’s you all, you lose sleep over djokovic getting more slams

So nick if your white knight tomorrow? Lol
